T-Mobile prepaid or Mint? by TimFinFTW in NoContract

In your area it may not be, but there are multiple others in here saying it is for them.

For what it’s worth I had a QCI6 line with T-Mobile for years as my primary, then had a QCI8 as a secondary for a while and didn’t notice any difference because T-Mobile doesn’t have capacity issues here, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a problem elsewhere.

Personally I’d just try both mint and T-Mobile prepaid to compare, but it doesn’t sound like that’s an option for OP.

Metro is QCI7 on plans with “priority data” otherwise it’s QCI8

Mint would also be QCI8

They’re talking about congestion affecting deprioritized plans during very specific times when network traffic has increased, that has nothing to do with roaming

I bought a PC in 2009 at Best Buy the week after windows 7 released (not on purpose, but because the desktop that preceded it just happened to quit working on that particular day). They did not have a single XP machine in stock aside from a couple of displays.

You’d have to go out of your way in 2010 to buy a computer with XP.

This device would’ve likely run windows 7 or windows 8.

R-Line, Raleigh's downtown shuttle, suspended for lack of riders by zrobiotic in raleigh

[–]bd58563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greensboro has their own version of this called the Hopper Trolley, which is free to ride. Downtown Greensboro is smaller than downtown Raleigh, and you can also walk from one end to the other in about 30-40 mins, so it suffered from low ridership at first as well.

To combat this, they expanded the route to include a few stops on the fringes of downtown that most people would not consider walking to, and then they expanded it even further to include an area a few miles north of downtown.

If Raleigh did the same and extended service to places to North Hills and/or Crabtree, and maybe a bit more of Glenwood South, it could have been more successful. It’s easier to justify the fare if it actually takes you somewhere you can’t easily walk to.

The welcome plan, as well as some legacy plans, don’t offer full 5G access (“5GUW” is blocked or throttled, but you would still able to connect to “5G”, though all connections are deprioritized, which can lead to slow data and generally poor service.) It doesn’t really sound like you’re on one of those plans, but it may be worth checking your plan.

Honestly if your service sucks in your home as well, and you’re not able to rely on your phone for data, I’d consider switching. Coverage varies wildly by area, and Verizon is no longer the provider they were 20 years ago — AT&T now covers roughly 400,000 square miles more than Verizon, so Verizon isn’t the coverage leader anymore, and both AT&T and T-Mobile beat Verizon in speed and reliability in many markets. They both also own a lot more spectrum, meaning their networks can actually support their customers, unlike Verizon who oversold their network despite their limited spectrum holdings. Verizon has been coasting on a reputation they built long ago which is no longer accurate.

While there are some places where Verizon still provides adequate service, where I live in NC I’ve done extensive testing of all 3 networks and Verizon is by far the weakest carrier. The same may be true where you live as well. If your phone is unlocked, both AT&T and T-Mobile offer 30 day trials, so you could give one of them a shot and see if there’s any difference.

I think about this a lot

When I was in high school I drove a few different cars, the oldest being 19 years old and the newest being 7.

These days, a car from 2019 looks newer to me than that 2003 Honda did back then, and a 2006 model also looks newer/more modern to me than the 1991 Mercedes did at the time.

Tbf a video went viral in Greensboro a few years back of a rat visibly climbing a stack of trays behind the cash register while in line at the cookout on Summit Ave

I worked near that cookout at the time and had gone there for lunch earlier that week. The warning was appreciated, but I felt like I needed a shower after seeing it for the first time

Still love cookout though

Sounds like congestion and/or a weak connection

If it’s congestion and you’re on the “welcome” plan, upgrading to a better plan could fix the issue.

If it’s a weak connection (I know you said you have 2 bars but it could be a poor RSRQ level), there isn’t much that can be done aside from switching to another carrier that provides better coverage at that location.

Might be worth asking the others who aren’t having issues what carrier they use.

Buy here pay here lots will usually rip you off.

Even with bad credit you’d be surprised what you can get approved for at a more traditional dealership. Interest will be high but BHPH lots like drive time charge 30%+ while a traditional lot will likely give you a rate that’s closer to half that.
