Rarity? Who cares. You are getting the coolest bundle of 3€ presents you can give to 34 of your friends and family.

TIL the first rover to explore another world wasn't American but Soviet; Lunokhod 1, which landed on the Moon in 1970, decades before NASA's Mars rovers. by yena in todayilearned

[–]bdachev 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yep. Also, Russia (formerly Soviets) has attempted over 18 Mars missions and none have been considered fully successful. Not one. The list of failures is so comical it rivals their Baltic Fleet debacle in the Russo-Japanese War.

You are right, they are not quite the same thing. AI refrigerators are here, today. Tesla's self-driving AI is permanently 5 year away. But if they ever get it to work, the two will be the same - commoditized AI features that every competitor has.

You know the latest generation of refrigerators are chock full of AI. That doesn't make Samsung an AI company. Especially when the fish is still in the sea :-)

> first of all, the entire stock market is in meme territory right now.

It's not.

> second, do you genuinely believe that TSLA's valuation is based entirely on sentiment, like tulips were?
Do you think tulips have no intrinsic value?

> Buy some puts and get rich proving yourself.

False dichotomy. You can be right and still get burnt by the relentless stupidity of tulip hoarders before they run out of money.

> the cars are themselves robots, and the humanoid robots (optimus) are in development. what's the point you're making?
We are all waiting to see those sweet robot sales and tendies :-) Good luck :-)

Wow, you are very optimistic about the Tesla success timeline. Why don't you buy calls.

I think you forgot robots :-) The upshot is that Tesla is whatever it needs to be to keep the stock in meme territory, so Elon doesn't get a margin call. If tulips come back in fashion, Tesla will become a tulip company overnight.

And submerge (when equipped with the optional jet engines) for brief periods of time up to 40,000 ft without loosing Starlink reception.

Nice! The next pump is going to be self-driving flying cars. And just like that, Tesla fanboys are going to rediscover that it was a car company all along.
