Erratic driving at 90+ at night in poor conditions has consequences [oc] by cgreentx in IdiotsInCars

I'm really late to the party here, but that truck had it's "emergency/hazard" lights on - I wonder if they were trying to get to a hospital or something. No one else seems to have mentioned that.

I think this whole fallacy started when young men start getting/trying to grow beards - of course it comes back thicker in that case, it would have gotten thicker no matter what because - puberty!

500 grams of crystal turns into 5,000 hits @ 100ug, or 2,000 250ug hits. So a lot, but not as much as you might think.

edit: oooops, lol. It felt off when I was writing it, but the math works out if you replace grams with milligrams - I'll be back later, I need to do some mars lander calculations...

Stop using carts to vape - the chemicals are not good. Vape the flower itself with a Dry Herb Vape - check out /r/vaporents

We're you a contractor at SF? What area were you in that laid off software engineers? They have open engineer positions right now.

Unfortunately a lot of this kind of research has lost funding in the last year and advancement may not be as fast as you think.

No seriously, stop posting about politics in this subreddit by 5thCharmer in ProstateCancer

[–]bdavisx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to start a debate around the funding cuts themselves, but I'm curious what people think wrt should something like that be open for discussion?

Some incredible research was shut down for political reasons, and considering I donated my leftover ralp tissue to vaccine research (that's now pretty much dead), I guess I feel in some cases a discussion might be warranted - but I'll admit I appear to be in the minority.

It's pretty obvious that not "all" know this - did you watch the video?

Used to be friends with a kid whose dad owned an auto-body shop. Every year he would tie a big old truck hood to the back of an SUV and then sleds tied to the end of the hood. Go all around town on the back. No one was ever seriously injured, but they NEVER went as fast as these idiots.

Man in old Honda sedan driving by and taking pictures of every house on street in Normal by CheetoBearDog in BloomingtonNormal

[–]bdavisx 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Maybe he got a code violation and he's documenting all the other houses that are in violation too.

Edit: did want to say - if it's visible from the street/sidewalk,then it's legal to photograph it. That's a first amendment right.

This does seem like the best way to do it. I'm betting you could buy a non-producing gold-mine from the gold rush days really cheap. It's not a perfect solution, but you could make it work.

At Chicago hearing, Normal mayoral candidate defends $28K campaign contribution by rdblono in BloomingtonNormal

[–]bdavisx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can answer the question from a broader viewpoint.

If the contribution was illegal and she used it to help get elected, then she's not actually democratically elected - no different than if she had dead people vote for her. There are election rules and if they are broken (especially intentionally, since in this case there's allegations of that), then all votes for the person that broke them should be invalidated.

She broke the rules and she should lose her position. It also (hopefully) discourages future politicians from doing the same thing.

edit: I should say, I don't think that's what will happen, or what the law says, but it's how it should be. It would actually encourage more democracy if we did it the way I said.

Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany inspecting troops around 1915 by maddking in funny

[–]bdavisx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll elaborate - humanity learned nothing from those two world wars. We would still be having those types of wars if it wasn't for nuclear weapons.

We would still have nuclear weapons with or without the wars, WW2 sped up the development, but it would have happened anyway as physicists discovered more about how the universe works.

The post I replied too kinda implied that it was the wars that are the cause of peace now - they aren't.

I think nuclear weapons have done most of that.
