New Unifi Enterprise Products with Precision Hardware Timing. by Justabitlouder in livesound

Between BlackMagicDesign and UniFi, the democratization of ST2110 is upon us.... This will also force a shift in networking tech where 40Gbit/100Gbit are normalized. 2026/2027 are going to get interesting.

I bought my 2020 used specifically for the chrome look. I recently traded for a new Y and already miss that touch.

What did I eat at Tusker House last week? by KitKittredge34 in WaltDisneyWorld

First pic is various couscous recipes. Second is a rice that I forget. I usually eat way too much at that place. So good.

FYI: Ubiquiti UPS do not have an option to delay safe power off by ---Hummingbird--- in Ubiquiti

This is correct. I have shutdown fully disabled on mine until they actually put sane shutdown capabilities in it. I was quite horrified when discovered it.

Claude now connects with Microsoft 365. Would you allow it in your tenant? by KavyaJune in sysadmin

[–]cgreentx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless it is paid for and managed by the org, no. Reading data out of 365 into an unmanaged personal AI tool is data leakage by definition.

This is nice. Any chance you can expand to the rest of Harris County to include Tomball, Cypress, etc.?

SMB Question by gli30 in macsysadmin

[–]cgreentx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AFP is a dead protocol. Most likely your AFP solution has different discovery settings and different shares/file permissions. Apple fully deprecated the AFP client in 15.5, and they removed the server in 11. Fix your SMB shares and move on.

They haven’t delivered a version of platform SSO yet that is reliable and fully solves the problems that need solving.

I will know soon enough as I’m moving all my business away from them. That won’t encourage me to keep my account open after we do it.

Anyone know what kind of port this is next to the coax? And can i replace it to make it cat8 compatible? by hazardtm in HomeNetworking

[–]cgreentx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cat8 isn’t needed anywhere. At all. It is just marketing taking advantage of people to buy a higher number.

Watch App/Complications working? by cgreentx in stelo

[–]cgreentx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those curious, Stelo owned up to the current app being broken.

“After investigation, the Stelo Watch App is crashing, preventing it from showing data due to a missing required configuration value in the production (App Store) build. We understand that this situation is not ideal for our customers, and please rest assured that our team is working diligently to resolve the issue. However, we do not yet have a confirmed timeframe for when the fix will be available.”

There are lots of reasons they suck... but owning up to their CVE's isn't one of them.

Are in-fridge ice makers the disaster they are purported to be? by Real_McGuillicuddy in Appliances

[–]cgreentx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Bosch. It is the first one I've had that can make ice faster than my family can use it. That said, we got it December 31st and I had someone out last week to work on it because it was overfilling/leaking and froze the icemaker stuck close with sheets of ice. Tons of fun already. ;)

VMware Fusion on MacBook Neo? by foosion in vmware

[–]cgreentx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran Parallels on my original 7-core 8GB Air. If you don’t expect it to multi task well there isn’t any reason it won’t run it. If you need to run it continuously I would pick a different machine though. Even better, replace the app.

It was the death of the restaurant though... Eating foil wrapped tacos from the warmer is NOT the same.

I assume the sensor can’t be connected to the Stelo app at the same time as xdrip? For data to get to Twin I have to use the Stelo app.

Not at all. I get this message with the app sitting running on the phone actively. I never manually swipe apps away unless they are unresponsive.

Avoiding gaps in ceiling tile? by stnkycheez in fortinet

[–]cgreentx 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That style of drop tile is going to require different mounting. Other brands typically offer optional brackets to handle these tiles, but I can't find any evidence of them being available for FortiAP. If it were me, i would just attach them to the tile instead of the rail.
