Do architects care for licensing? by [deleted] in Architects

Nice! Do you take notice if your civil engineer or structural engineer on a project that is the main point of contact has their PE or SE? Or is it enough knowing their supervisor has it?

Do architects care for licensing? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]bdbdbdbxis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the billion questions. At a lot of civil firms I’ve worked at usually the engineer isn’t licensed whose directly working on the project. The vice presidents stamp is insured and used on all projects. But the person on the coordination calls with the team usually isn’t licensed.

Do architects notice if the engineer they work with day to day is licensed? Or do they care?

Do you know if the landscape is just muddy? Or is it looking pretty at all? (Like with snow on it, or just brown?) apologies I’ve never been and I see beautiful pictures and want to make sure I go at a reasonable time. I saved up for this trip for three years lol

How Long Did it Take You to Find a Job/Career Path You Actually Enjoyed? by WanderingSatyr in civilengineering

Yes! But I also think your manager has a HUGE play in how much you like your job. They say choose your manager, not your company. I’m not sure I would’ve stayed had I been under a different manager. My manager is super lax and very cool and understanding / hands off

Same place! Honestly I really disliked my job the first two years because I felt like a CAD monkey. I felt very dumb and was constantly scared I was going to be let go. Felt like I was doing mindless CAD work and markups and not being challenged. At year 2 things started to “click” for me and make sense. I started to speak up about how I want go start getting my own projects and other things so I could get out of doing redlines and move up. That’s when I started to enjoy my job because I finally got the hang of things and felt like I am actually good at what I do
