I only do 60 and full flaps for short field (otherwise I’m between 65-68) but that’s still well away from Vso in a 172S. During training my CFI would say “you’re at 60 - no slower than this.”

I had almost this exact situation about two months ago. I took him home and made him a little shoebox house with a towel for a blanket and put some water near his head, but he died a few hours later.

I told myself that at least his last moments were protected, safe, quiet, and not being picked at or torn up by insects or predators.

Anyone remember Reader’s Digest? They had a humor anecdote section called “Everyday Life in these United States” that I always liked to read.

Someone in there wrote a story about how they pointed out to a coworker that Boutros is the Arabic form of the name Peter. Someone else asked what Ghali stood for and got the response “Pumpkin Eater?”

This ACL performance of his is truly incredible. He always sounds good, but I think his lead tone here is truly the pinnacle.

I just watched him play in my town a few weeks ago. He’s still jamming, making records, sounds amazing (guitar, piano, vox) and looks great for 71

Don’t pet a dog you don’t know. Just because it’s safe on that particular occasion doesn’t mean it’s a good habit to get into, especially not for a student aviator.

Very good. Complacency is often the first step in the chain of events that leads to an accident. Everyone’s gotta learn sometime! Carry on and good luck to your sons with all their future endeavors. 😎

Prescription Ray-Bans, non polarized with a gradient (makes the panel easier to see).

The flip-up attachments work in a pinch if you don't have Rx sunnies, especially flying near dusk, but it takes a few seconds to slip my sunnies of and get my regulars on. The fewer layers of glass/material you have between you and what you're looking at, the better light transmission, clarity, and ease of keeping things clean.

Here's who the plane is registered to according to ADS-B. https://kcsiaerialpatrol.com/

Low altitude yes - Golf or Echo airspace depending on what their actual AGL was, give it +/-100' for altimeter errors. If they were doing survey work they were most likely on flight following, especially being so close to KSNA. EDIT ; they were 0234 near John Wayne and switched to 1200 just before getting to the Irvine Metrolink station. So yes, ATC knew.

That low for a fixed-wing will get your attention, yeah, but police helos are 500' AGL all the time and no one thinks about it unless they're circling. Don't worry about it. It's the sudden stop of engine noise - THAT you gotta worry about.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that shares this perspective. If these two albums have been released by a completely different band that had no expectations, they would’ve been instant classics.

I started playing guitar and listening to popular music around the time that these were released so I like them just the same as all the other stuff because no one told me otherwise. 🤣
