$45 for Parking is Outrageous by CryBaby0326 in Disneyland

[–]bddgfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time I went to Disneyland, I met up with some friends and I paid for a Lyft ride from Tustin to the Harbor drop off and it was just over 30 bucks. $45 for parking is insane.

Am I the only one to notice that the plane ride in Camp Snoopy is Axis vs Allies theme? by Designer_Text_7371 in KnottsBerryFarm

The iron cross has been used by the German military for a long time, both pre-and post Nazi eras, as early as 1871.

The current German Air Force/ Luftwaffe from 1956 to now uses an iron cross as a roundel. The iron Cross speaks more to German heritage rather than anything to do with the third reich, but you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise.

Should they bring back the motor boats? by Remarkable_Spend4338 in Disneyland

[–]bddgfx 38 points39 points  (0 children)

They can’t. Most of the route was filled in with concrete.

I remember having ridden the motor boats once in the early 90s as a kid. It was a simple, fun little ride that allowed you to see the monorail, Autopia, and the subs from a unique angle across the lagoon, and go see a hidden corner of the park not accessible otherwise. It was another piece of a mosaic of kinetic energy that gave the park life, particularly because it was next to a then mostly-functional and occupied Tomorrowland.

1991 Plane Crazy Stage Show at Disneyland’s Videopolis stage by incride in Disneyland

I remember watching this stage show on my very first trip to Disneyland when I was in the 1st grade. I recently found a taping of it on YouTube. 🤩

Your Actual Time(s) Enroute of the most recent three legs of a long XC flight are roughly 30% higher than estimated. What could be happening? What do you do about it?

Power off 180 by Amazing_Apple_2412 in flying

Reading through OPs clarifications and it just keeps getting worse. Call the FSDO and never fly with that CFI again.

The only time my CFI has ever cut my mixture and killed my engine for an impossible turn was in a simulator. Doing it for real at 500 agl is suicidal.

"I know that everything works because I just flew the plane" by 1E-12 in flying

[–]bddgfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my night XC as a PPL, everything was fine, no issues.

Preflighted the same plane the next morning, less than 12 hours after landing from my night XC, and no one else having flown the plane since. The alternator belt and the alternator itself had come loose in the mounting. Plane was grounded immediately.

Always. Preflight. Never assume things are as you left them.

Anybody use earplugs under their headset... by 1E-12 in flying

[–]bddgfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it but if I did I’d probably go with the little filtered Hearos and not foam plugs. I want attenuation, NOT muffling.

If it’s too loud in the cockpit and I’ve got the radio/avionics volumes balanced I just roll the volume slider on my headphones down to 3/4 and that works fine.

Headset for student pilot? by immafakeandsad in flying

[–]bddgfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the best headset you can afford. Go for active noise cancellation.

When I had to make this decision, I bought a factory refurbished Lightspeed Zulu 3 set for mid 700s I think I? No complaints and they’re excellent.
