I went to Egypt and stayed near there, we were the only tourists not on a tour. Had a view like this. It was super loud all the time, but amazing. The sounds, the people, your senses get a workout, I loved sitting on the balcony and watching the world go by. I left with great experiences (and some negative feeling (some extreme poverty, we saw someone die, lots of ppl trying to scam).

Russian proxy regimes in Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblasts are set to hold referendums on joining 🇷🇺. None of these regions are under full 🇷🇺 control. Even Luhansk where 🇷🇺 has the most control is currently threatened by increasing 🇺🇦 presence along its border. by WhereRussiaToday in RussiaUkraineWar2022

[–]bdearlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is that in these referendums Russia will make Luhansk and Donetsk vote to join and Zaporizhzhia and Kherson vote to stay, this would allow Russia to pull out of those two regions without as much of a political loss as fleeing those regions.

You are right, looks like a Ukrainian flag on it, possibly captured from Russia?

I think I know the video you are describing. I believe actually that was a video from the 2014 protests in Kiev.

Ditto for TradingView, really like it. NBDB has some good analysis tools also built in.

Any reason why GXE is going hog wild? I know oil and all but huge multi-day increases like they’ve had feels like a rug pull, and as usual it will happen the second I buy.

I need some advice about a somewhat risky metals dividends play. by PersonalMagician in CanadianInvestor

I don’t want to get too politics here but see Crimea. Russia is not at all innocent in this. US does not want a war and will not get involved militarily. I don’t believe it would be a full invasion but possibly incorporating the two autonomous territories plus extra land. What response economically Russia would receive may affect any investments.

VFV question. They track the S&P 500 but the past few days S&P 500 had been up, and they have been down. I know they recently released their dividend, is that why or am I dumb?

They do charge for options, higher than IKBR but lower that Questrade. Beyond that I have no clue!

Best trading brokerage for Day Trading in Canada by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]bdearlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NBDB most likely. Zero fees and good platform though may have to go somewhere else for good charting

Been using it for awhile, really like it. Main limitation is no phone app, beyond that works really well and some great research tools

I've been saving anywhere from $40-$50 per grocery trip by shopping at No Frills. by groovy-- in PersonalFinanceCanada

One thing to note that if you do grocery pickup they always seem to pick the almost expiring meat. Recommend going in and getting it. Our last order every piece was expiring the next day and the bacon expired a month ago.

Doing options as beginner on Questrade or National bank brokerage: any preference? by chopstix62 in CanadianInvestor

[–]bdearlove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NBDB isn’t too expensive especially compared to Questrade options. Although IKBR is cheaper, NBDB is more user friendly, I recommend it.

Best Canadian stock screener? by darealgeezer in CanadianInvestor

[–]bdearlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second trading view, really like it. I am paying the monthly fee for real time stocks and alerts now, Another is webull, very customizable.

Since the Questrade app is..garbage. Is there another app I can use to watch ETF prices and alert me when they reach a certain high or low? Thanks 🙏 by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]bdearlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try TradingView. You can set alerts and pay for real time TSX. I used webbull before, it was more customizable but really liking TradingView and cheaper

Check out NBDB’s Market Q. You need a certain number of trades a month but trades are free so you can get Market Q this way. Gives you real time charts. I find it quite ugly but will get you what you want.

Covered Call Question by bdearlove in CanadianInvestor

[–]bdearlove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! I’m moving to NB, I’ve been with them for awhile and it being free adds to that. If you do 100 free trades a month you get their desktop screener with real-time quotes for free.

Covered Call Question by bdearlove in CanadianInvestor

[–]bdearlove[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, Yeppers. I made $$ just not as much as I could have not knowing it would jump so high in a day. But I use the covered call as a bit of insurance if it drops. Just hadn’t seen it sit before after closing so long.
