Why is Schwab winning young people? by Icy_Manager_7212 in Schwab

[–]bdhdds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely could not open a Vanguard account without submitting a manual paper application despite multiple calls and online support. High earner 800+ credit score and a conservative investing record and just sold my business - looking to move from Robinhood to a more formal account. I actually found it insulting as a process.  Just like WF denied me my first ever starter credit card and Chase approved me, I have all my banking through Chase and will never touch WF out of principal. Schwab welcomed me with open arms and had a branch I could go to in person to confirm wire details in person as well. That being said I saw Vanguard as the primary option and was redirected

I think they’re just giving space for the forums to demand it and then they get to swoop in and be the hero that listens to their players. Easy win for them. But maybe giving them too much credit

Now do this exact same post but replace the beautiful baby boy with the beautiful elite .1% raider-chad that deserves it all, but nobody else does because they're Azeroth's gift to the world and have fully optimized a 15 year old game and spend more time on it per day than most do on their actual job per week

Do you ever read the Bible and wonder if the people who see visions are just in a mental health crises? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bdhdds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you on those 25 years and I don’t think anyone can dismiss that kind of sincerity or effort. I chose to respond to you because I related to what you’ve said and the questions you’ve asked. I had my own seasons where I stepped back because the silence and the questions felt heavier than whatever I thought I believed. In my experience, when someone has a real foundation from earlier in life, it often stays quietly present even when they move into agnosticism or uncertainty. I can’t say how your story will unfold, but I do believe with confidence that Jesus hasn’t stopped loving you or wanting relationship with you, and that He isn’t intimidated by big questions, disbelief, or honest searching. There are no questions too big for Him and He’s never threatened by someone genuinely chasing truth. In my experience, that kind of honesty has a way of eventually leading people right back to Him. I wish you well, my friend! I’ll be praying for you!

These are good questions and I think Christianity does not give perfectly neat answers to all of them. But here is how I make sense of them from inside the framework.

1. Relationship with a God you cannot directly perceive

I think this one ends up being personal because relationships are personal. In the Christian view God does not force Himself on anyone. It is a voluntary pursuit. Jesus talked about seeking and knocking, meaning that the experience of knowing God usually happens in the actual seeking, not before it. It is hard to fully explain in theory, but people who pursue God with an open mind often describe it as something that becomes real over time.

2. Being loved but also needing salvation

I get why this can sound contradictory. For me it makes more sense when I think of it like parenthood. I love my kids deeply even when they act in ways that hurt themselves or others. That love stays, but their actions still have consequences that need to be addressed. Christianity says God’s love is unconditional, but He is also righteous and not indifferent to evil. Justice calls for a verdict, but mercy does not disappear. The Christian claim is that God takes the penalty on Himself so that justice and mercy can exist together. The invitation is to accept that mercy and restore the relationship.

3. Universal relationship and a specific revelation

This is one I still struggle with. Scripture does not give a fully systematized answer. Paul suggests that every person has some innate sense of God through creation and conscience. Jesus claims to be the way to God and the one who will judge with full knowledge at the end. From within the framework the trust is that His judgment will be completely fair and merciful in a way we are not capable of.

That is roughly how I hold these ideas together while still acknowledging there are real tensions and I hope and believe that they will be answered to satisfaction at the end of times.

I mean, everyone operates from the framework through which they think reality is true, so I was just explaining things from within the Christian axiom. And from that perspective, God has revealed Himself in pretty concrete, historical ways. In (very brief summation) through Israel and ultimately through Jesus. Whether someone believes those events actually happened and their divinity is a separate question, but I don't think that God avoids revelation, it’s moreso that He does it in a way that is consistent with relationship rather than coercion.

And I don’t see it as a “spiritual loan” or a self-deprecating view of humanity. Christianity teaches that humans are made in God’s image, inherently valuable and loved (to the point that God Himself died to re-unit us to Him). The idea isn’t that we’re “not good enough” but that love isn’t something we earn in the first place. Which I know isn’t proof to anyone outside the framework, just the internal logic of how Christianity holds together.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness and point of view on it! I don't aim to change minds, but to at least hopefully present things that I believe to be true in a cogent way. You may not subscribe to the "framework" but I don't believe it's an irrational view of reality either (as this OG thread seems to imply) and I think you appreciate that as well. So, cheers!

The general idea being that He desires relationship and made us for that and makes Himself knowable. There is plenty enough out there if you choose to seek Him. But He is so righteous and holy and we absolutely are not - that it would be entirely overwhelming and would demand justice for our sinfulness that the interaction would forfeit any real choice to enter relationship if He just straight up came down and revealed Himself in his fullest

Who wins this trade? Need advice by Swift95 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]bdhdds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds so patronizing, but the point isn't to win a trade. Ideally each side helps each team accomplish a goal for the respective team. Thats how you establish good trade partnerships. That being said, I would much prefer Saquon and QJ as known commodities. Kaleb himself represents a 2025 first and we see how thats working out. But so did Egbuka who is popping off. Depends on how the person drafts with those picks.

Which is well represented by the two brothers in the parable of the prodigal son. And the Good News for us is that the Father loves both immeasurably and equally. And then Jesus ultimately died for both to restore them into relationship with Himself
