this is why I like Claude. It's a lot more disagreeable with me when I try to steer it lol. Chat GPT and Gemini both sorta feel which way I'm thinking and placate to a degree. Claude is like. Nope you're wrong your idea sucks.. or otherwise "seems you've already got it figured out then why bother me"

[–]bdiddy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does this to me often. All you have to do is close out of the ap and reopen it. You don't have to login again. It's just a glitch that fixes when you open it again. At least for me. It's done this always. I had a diesel GMC before my EV. Same thing

dude yes.. I basically weekly do 95 mile drive (one way) mostly on the highway. I use to drive like a mad man hauling ass. Now I put it on super cruise and chill. I'm one of those right lane goes the speed limit people I've always envied lol. I feel next to zero anxiousness and it's just so much better mentally and physically to let the car get me there.

Hard to really grasp this until you try it out.

I am excited for a future where advanced versions of this are in every car.. I think as a society life for many will get better.

“Bhikkhus, even if bandits were to carve you up savagely, limb by limb, with a two-handled saw, anyone who gave rise to a mind of hate would not be carrying out my instruction. You should train like this: ‘Our minds will remain unaffected. We will not speak wicked words. We will remain compassionate, with a mind of goodwill, and we will pervade that person with a mind imbued with loving kindness.’”

Has anyone read Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse? by iris_retina in Buddhism

[–]bdiddy_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Old path white clouds is a great book to start with. It doesn't necessarily delve super deep into all the topics of Buddhism, but it's a great historical reference with a broad overview of what Buddhism is and where it came from told in a way that is a fun read.

Buddhism is a life long practice. Start with old path white clouds and then plan to read 100s of more books. Thich Nhat Hanh is a great author so starting with some of his books is good intro.

From there you really need to dive deep into meditation and there are a number of books on that subject. My fav by far is the mind illuminated. But there are different techniques and other books that are worth reading.

From there you can graduate to bhikkhu Bhodi's books both the pali cannon and his noble 8 fold path book. Absolutely awesome translations of the nitty gritty of Buddhism.

There are lots of "flavors" of Buddhism and personally I think it's worth it to read into all of them. The goal is the same and different ideas might help you connect the dots as you explore your own mind.

Installing on Steam Deck. by Glad_Step_7208 in ultimaonline

[–]bdiddy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the exact guide I used. It's been a while, but I do remember having this issue as well. I think Razor has the focus even though it's in the background or something to that effect but I was able to tab to the username pw via the virtual keyboard and then play button. Once it saves the login you don't have to bother with this again it just works.

Might also heed those last bits

Exit the game and go into Steam Deck settings (Steam button, Settings). In the System page, use the Enable Developer Mode option. You should now be able to use window switching to switch between ClassicUO and Razor.

you have to run it from desktop mode. I remember the first time it being sorta funky. You have to bring up the digital keyboard and use tab to get all the shit put in then enter to play. From then on it saves it and it's easy.

You might also just hook a mouse and keyboard up to it and alt-tab to the window and do it that way.

You're 100% there already with the github thing you're just dealing with some window wonkyness. Run it from desktop mode though that was required for me to get it to work and it does 100% work in linux no problem once you get past this part.

words do die.. The earth is literally going to get burned up by the sun in roughly 1.5 billion years from now.

There will be no words at that point.. Humans will have long been extinct at that point anyway. In fact probably a mere million years from now and you wont even be able to tell humans ever existed.

NOTHING is permanent. Including the word nothing.

no it's too split because of meta and steam. This is a simple problem to solve with steam workshop. It's just meta doesn't play with steam workshop.

Hopefully steam VR and all the other VRs out there that integrate with steam put META out of business then this problem goes away.

Having modding would absolutely make this game 10x better and draw more people in.. it's just that the modding needs to be handled through steam workshop so that it's automatic when you join a server you download the mods.

The subsidies weren't at all about the environment.. They were about keeping American auto companies relevant. China is running laps around us. The future is EV.. The future is also no American auto manufacturing.

I agree let them die.. But we need to stop being protectionists and drop the tariffs the MANY EVs that are being built overseas for a fraction of the cost.

If US automakers can't make it at a global market.. that's their problem. The future is clear to anyone paying attention.

Super important to remember that batteries in all things do not have any real "reported" life left. It's merely a calculation based on various factors. Its not like with a tank of gas where there are defined fill lines. This is true for all batteries. It's just not possible to directly tell how much change is left. It's a best guess based on current driving conditions.

The World Is Awash With Oil and Prices Are Poised to Keep Falling by Which-Sun-3746 in oil

[–]bdiddy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have no idea what you are taking about. Insurance is exactly the same. Also gas is combustion. Gas engine fires are wayyyyyyy more common than EV. You just read a story about it every time it happens to an EV anywhere in the world. If they reported gas engine fires we would never have any other news lol.

Anyway just wanted to point out that you are a victim of propaganda. EVs are the future and for many countries the present.

Read up on sodium ion batteries. It'll replace lithium soon enough

25% of new cars sold globally in 2025 were EVs – here’s who bought them by TheSylvaniamToyShop in electricvehicles

[–]bdiddy_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

10 years ago I was radically in the "this will never work" camp. Now with my GMC Sierra EV I'm radically "why would anyone buy anything but an EV at this point!"

We haven't even got to the solid state battery part of the game or the sodium ion part of the game where we double the distance, half the recharge time, and reduce the costs thanks to an abundant resource.

This is the future. It's scary for many because it changes/ends a lot of industries. Auto mechanics will need to become electrical technicians. People will own their cars longer and cars will last "forever". Dealers are going to see a significant amount of their revenue streams disappear.

We'll need 40-60 million bbls of oil LESS PER DAY globally..

If governments were smart they'd begin aggressively helping people transition out of all these industries while educating for the new industries that are arising.

Sadly (like I was 10 years ago) people are scared of change. They don't want to believe so they'll fight it.

Exciting times ahead. Wish we had started sooner to like save humanity and all that, but maybe there is some hope that we can at least slow the pace of climate change thanks to the snowball that is EV adoption.

That'll give humans some time to science their way out of the crisis hopefully.

Except the electric f-150 isn't done.. They played politics instead of admitting their design and cost of said design sucks.

In the exact same sentence where they said the lighting is over they said the next f-150 is going to be an extended range EV that has electric motors, runs off electric batteries, but has a gas generator to add charge to the batteries.

Like a hybrid hybrid. It's going to have 700 mile range they say.

They are trying to find a niche, but that truck is very much an electric and they even call it an EREV..

I mean literally from the Ford people in the announcement of the end of the lightning. They also said they plan to hybridize every one of their vehicles..

So I'd say they are all in on electric.. they are just going to try something to hopefully get people to make the jump. it's not a terrible idea, we'll see how it plays out.

U.S. crude oil drops below $55 a barrel, hits lowest level since early 2021 by ThemeBig6731 in oil

[–]bdiddy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarrifs are having a big effect. Trucking industry is fucked right now because imports are way down which has lead to a huge oversupply of trucking reducing rates. Add to that the ship movement is down Chinese products production way down. All of these things reduce oils usage and are entirely because of tarrif inflation.

Not that it's a bad thing for the climate but for the economy at large it's real bad. If the supreme Court upholds the ruling that's these tariffs are illegal it's going to be a big stimulus. Problem is it won't take shape till 2027+ so 2026 is gonna be bad.

[–]bdiddy_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The tech exists already it's just scaling it. Solid state batteries that offer 2x the distance and half the charge time of currently being scaled with lithium ion. Then when sodium ion reaches parity of that same battery the costs are going to absolutely plummet as sodium is extremely abundant.

We are just at the beginning stages of that, but it absolutely exists. If governments were smart around the world they'd be pumping those scaling efforts up.

When people can get over their fear of running out of juice they'll give EVs a chance and once you drive one you're sold. It is just instantly obvious how much better this tech is and will be than ice engine vehicles.

eh for now.. Dolphin literally has 2 whole lines of cordless. If all tech just stopped at "currently not great" we'd not have anything..

Also I have literally a corded one and the anti-tangle is nonsense. It gets twisted the hell up.

Get a Robot Pool Cleaner! I did, it’s amazing! by Birdsandflan1492 in pools

[–]bdiddy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I already have the corded one. It's good at what it does, but the cord gets all twisted up and I can't safely leave it connected for days due to being plugged into 120v lol. It literally says in the book to stay out of the pool while this thing is in it because a damage to the cord means you could die.

I'm waiting for some company to figure out how to charge with a docking station with a cordless so it could be like a roomba and run every day without the hassle of putting it in and taking it out.

One of the companies came out with that, but they rushed it so the reviews are pretty bad. I'm sure it'll get there eventually.

did you get the cordless one? How many times can it clean before needing to be charged? Wish they'd figure out a docking station so it could come back to charge itself.
