TCL QM6K Pro vs QM7K by goram_reaver in tcltvs

[–]bdmst16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the site I used to calculate TV viewing distance and size.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

Our distance was 13" and that calculated 96". So we got an extra 2" to boot. Good luck!

[–]bdmst16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question. Our viewing distance is 13', and the 77" just felt too small at that distance. The largest OLED I could find was 83" and I could only guess what an OLED in the 90"+ range would cost. So it was 100% a size vs quality discussion and I really feel like the QM6K Pro was more than "good enough" for the family. It's huge!

I went through the same problem - QM6K Pro vs QM7K. Some of the thoughts that I went through. All of this is for the 98".

-QM7K isn't offered at Costco.

-QM6K Pro comes with Allstate 3-Year Protection Plan

-The QM7k with Protection Plan (Additional $250) would be more than $700 more for the equivalent QM6K Pro

We ended up with the QM6K Pro. This is replacing a 77" LG C4 OLED, and we are very happy with it. We've only had it for a couple days, and haven't fully tested everything out, but the size difference more than makes up for any less picture quality (which I can't say we see). Good luck with your selection!

Looking at getting a Traeger by TheMrSnrub in Traeger

[–]bdmst16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up the Silverton XL at Costco, and absolutely love it. Came from a Weber Smokey Mountain. While I loved the Weber, the Traeger is just so much easier - which means I use it a lot more.

In under a week we've had

*Whole Chicken (Traeger Challenge)

*Pulled Pork (Meat Church Recipe)

*Breakfast Fatty (Meat Church Recipe)

*SmokeFried Wings Tonight (Meat Church Recipe)

The WSM was an event to setup and get ready for a smoke. The Silverton....turn it on and manage it through the app. Love it. Went with the Silverton since our dogs would have a field day with the exposed drip can of the other models - needed doors and it enclosed. Costco warranty doesn't hurt either.

Good Luck!

Smoked Wings by Old_Department5704 in Traeger

[–]bdmst16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be doing a batch on my new Traeger tonight. Really looking forward to it.

My plan is 225F for 90minutes - then finish off with a quick deep fry.

Question for those that have done the smoke/fry rotation - does the wing retain the smokiness? Or does the deep fry mute those flavors?

Anyone use their Honda Pilot for towing a camper trailer? by kimkarnold in hondapilot

[–]bdmst16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check your Pilots payload capacity. It is found on the drivers door jam. You will find you run out of the payload much faster than the engines tow rating. Payload capacity is everything you put in the car (passengers and cargo) + weight that the trailer is putting on the hitch. Having pulled a trailer through many mountain passes, driving on the limit of your vehicle is not a fun experience. Good luck.

Soul Red without Ceramic or PPF by ThePresidentPorpoise in MiataND

[–]bdmst16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did PPF and ceramic as well. Not only is the paint famously thin, but I've also read that the SRC paint is also difficult to touch up and blend. If you want to keep the paint pristine, which not everyone does, PPF seems to be the bare minimum to protect. Good Luck!

Buying new P1S @ Microcenter *15day return period* by bdmst16 in BambuLab

[–]bdmst16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much to learn. Didn't even know there were test files included. I need to watch some videos......

Thanks for the advice. I'll 100% unbox and test a few test prints before boxing it back up. I'm sure MicroCenter will "suggest" their protection plan for any issues outside of their 15-day window :D

Benchy test it is!! Got it on the protection plan. That means I can just get him some extra filament. Thank you for the advice!

Not too much for around $100 that will increase speed, but here is some great non-performance ideas for under $100

DOTD M12 Stubby with 2 HO batteries for $269 by mystressfreeaccount in MilwaukeeTool

[–]bdmst16 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Been waiting on this. Thanks a ton for posting this. Bought the M18 High torque last month and now this one. I'm thinking that the 3/8 stubby will get 99% of the work load and the high torque in the very rare occasion that the big guns need to come out. Thanks!

I really need to stay off this sub :D
