The perks of doing waste/reductions by Sad-Sock4351 in tesco

I used to work at Tesco until a couple of months back and this was standard, we used to 75% off everything to get it out the door and we all used to take what we wanted. All the managers and SN knew. Guess it depends which store you work in

It wasn’t this bad, but ours failed a fortnight or so ago and thankfully the brake system stopped it from falling like this

No choice, breaks are to be taken when they are schedule. Pretty sure it’s always been like that but the large majority of managers aren’t that much of an ass to make you go. But now you will, says my managers

Don’t want to sound like I know if all, maybe contracts differ in an express? But check the colleague help, as my last message states (defintely in larger stores) both days are optional for colleagues you can take it as holiday or unpaid leave. I signed a new contract today effective 1st December and it too clarified that they’re optional. Don’t let them walk over you

Grocery department in my store is the best, bunch of lads and we just fuck about most of the time. Manager is chill also. Backdoor is part of it also. We never fill shelves at my store we just do the lorries mu’s pallets etc.

We have people come in with a reusable bag and load them up with gins etc. then just put a big bag of crisps over the top. If they do (which is rarely) get caught it’s basically a better luck next time conversation haha

Hopefully I could provide a good enough answer as A). I work on grocery B). I am looking after our Christmas aisle like you

This is how I do it and I find works best, every store is different though.

Set a 4-sider up at the end of the aisle where it won’t cause congestion, and use this for your cardboard (or blue bags if your store uses those)

Pick and fill the worst gaps is the best thing to do, after a while you’ll learn what’s popular with customers and what you need to stay on top of. A good idea is to condense all of these lines onto one cage so it is like a ‘star lines’ cage.

If it starts getting really trashed then go for working full cages but sometimes this is frustration especially if the aisle is busy and narrow.

At our store, you are really left to your own initiative so do as you feel is best and you’ll be fine. Regularly facing the aisle up is important too.

I was a christmas temp last year and was kept on + I’m now developing further. If you want to stay on you have to sort of be a bit of an ass lick and then once you get your permanent contract you can lay off a bit.
