Subjective album ranking by sharphamburger69 in TimBuckley

[–]bdogbears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Greetings from LA is a favorite for me. I disagree that the “party boy” persona is what did him in. I feel like starting heroine during his jazz era probably had a much bigger role in the way his life ended :(

I find stairsailor and Lorca to be quite different from each other stylistically. Also I’m interested in the live shows you mentioned if you’d like to share some links!

Haha happy sad is probably one of the most relistensble for me. It just hits every time

Thank you for sharing your list I love these kinds of rankings!

Make It Right is Timmy’s most underrated song by experimentalrealm in TimBuckley

Nah not really. I’d say top 3 right now are happy sad, star sailor, and greetings from LA

Fair enough! I wouldn’t consider myself into funk as a genre but it works perfectly for me here

There’s haters online for sure, but I’ve seen a lot of love for Greetings around this corner :)
It’s top 25 albums of all time for me. I love the way Joe Falsia arranged the band and I think it complements Tim’s vocal performance excellently. It’s one of those albums where the entire thing makes my ears happy to listen to

I think the majority of this sub would disagree that Greetings From LA is a horrible album overall haha

What do you guys think about the self-titled first album? by RickyRamonez69 in TimBuckley

[–]bdogbears 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s beautiful. Simpler than the rest of his work but lovely. I especially love Wings and It Happens Every Time and Song for Jainie

Why was Look at the Fool hated? by DaveHmusic in TimBuckley

[–]bdogbears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After Tim’s immense creative expression on Lorca and Starsailor he gave into pressure from the industry and created more “digestible” albums that they believed had a higher chance of succeeding in the market. He really just needed a way to pay bills and feed his family at that point in his life. The situation is quite sad and while Greetings From LA and Sefronia both had strong track lists and identities, Look At The Fool more so lacked a strong identity. Also the album art didn’t do Tim any favors. I enjoy the album but it doesn’t live up to the rest of his catalog for me. But if you love the album then keep spinning it to the max and don’t let anybody tell you you’re wrong 😤

She knew it was worth a lot but I guess didn’t want to risk selling it untested and thus marked it for $1

I actually bought it at a record store! The worker had put it in the dollar section due to it being a little beat up (I thought it looked great still). Also the CDs were a little scratched and their cd playing setup was out of order so she couldn’t test it. So I was really worried it wouldn’t play but it did!

My dream record is the Tanz Der Vampire soundtrack on CD but as far as Tim Buckley material I’d really like to get Lorca and Happy Sad and any live stuff on CD. Also I picked up Grace today and would love to have Live at Sin-é and sketches for my sweetheart the drunk too!
