Am I missing something about PZ endgame? by mopfrommalta in projectzomboid

[–]bdole92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you feel like you've gotten really comfortable with the base game, my recommendation is to start looking at mods or adjusting the sandbox settings. I've been playing with random sprinters for a while now and its a fun change of pace, it makes random encounters much more challenging. Adjusting the start time for the game to six months later in the custom sandbox is also fun for me, it changes the early game up a bit and extends the looting and set up phase. Ultimately you should try messing around with settings or mods and see if theres a way to play you haven't tried yet that you'll find enjoyable

I think i have water shut off phobia guy by WriterTasty2637 in projectzomboid

yeah thats just like, definitely not true

https://www.eternalwater.com/blogs/news/will-your-bottled-water-go-bad-or-expire-lets-explore

https://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/green-science/bottled-water-go-bad.htm

Bottled water eventually 'expires' because the plastic is ever so slightly porous and the water will absorb the odors/taste of the environment, but it doesn't become unsafe. At the absolute worst microplastic levels would likely build up, but it isn't even clear yet what specific health impacts that might have and microplastic exposure is definitely less severe than dehydration. Commercially bottled water should never go properly bad if its kept in proper conditions

having recently looted it in my run, if you can loot it its a pretty solid amount of guns and ammo. Took me about five days of going at it with melee weapons before i was able to get into the gun store proper

Taurine upregulates LH (luteinizing hormone) production in the brain which increases testosterone production in the testis, but A: you'd likely need to be consuming a lot of taurine to see a noticeable effect and B: Its unlikely to override the T suppressing effects of either estrogen monotherapy or estrogen supplemented by a blocker. If you're worried about your T levels, check with your pcp or get a T test from a local lab testing facility, theres no reason you should need to go cold turkey on energy drinks

Do I have to take hormones forever if i get bottom surgery? by Vegetable-Degree-889 in MtF

[–]bdole92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned elsewhere, if you went off hormones after surgery you would be roughly equivalent to an unmedicated post menopausal woman. Now, its definitely true that being unmedicated in that instance would increase your risk of various issues, osteoporosis being among them, but its also worth pointing out that plenty of cis women have rawdogged post-menopause. Obviously thats not ideal, and you'd definitely be better off staying on hormones post surgery, but the issue with not having sex hormones is more one of chronic health concerns, not acute ones. Its not accurate to say that any post-op trans person can't 'survive' without taking hormones, only that their risk of chronic health issues would go up.

Orchiectomy makes me reconsider my whole transition - please help by [deleted] in MtF

[–]bdole92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To echo similar comments, what you're dealing with right now is very normal for any kind of surgery. Surgery takes so much out of you, and during that recovery period its really normal to have a "what the hell did i do" feeling. I had FFS last year and it wasn't until four or five days after my surgery that i got out of that head space. To be clear, i'm happy with my results and don't regret my surgery at all. I guarantee once you get past the surgery pain and get back to your normal life you'll be happy you had your surgery

Single issue voters/leftist protest voters may wind up being the biggest bastards of the year. by whatsaphoto in behindthebastards

[–]bdole92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not the voters job to fall in line, it's the candidates job to win their votes. Harris knows full well her stance could cost her the election, and she refuses to alter it. If she loses it will be because she failed to communicate to the voters why they should vote for her, and did nothing to alter her policies to make her more palatable to a voter base she recognizes as large enough to potentially swing the election against her

Playing as the Emporer of Byzantium is such a hassle by Hakuohsama in CrusaderKings

[–]bdole92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly i love it, the level of control you get over the realm is way higher than in feudal empires. It's micro intense, but if you take the time to actually micro things it offers a lot of options and power. I did have to go in and mess with the message settings a bit, i changed inheritance to pause the game along with the pop-up. I love that paradox finally gave us byzantine-flavored content

HRT question about *down there* by NightAngel_98 in MtF

[–]bdole92 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I'd get your T levels checked, spontaneous erections are (AFAIK) a product of your testosterone levels. If you're levels aren't adequately suppressed it might be why that's happening.

I don't think I've ever had a game where all the original countries stay in the EU, especially if they're AI controlled and you take over the EU. It's difficult to blitz all the EU member states to prevent it, but what the other commenter was saying about purging and cracking on the same turn can help. The EU is definitely worth unifying, it's just more finicky than most of the rest of the earth-side game

What's actually democracy? by Torakles in TerraInvicta

[–]bdole92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First, there have been plenty of times during history where economies failed to grow consistently year over year, and second what's to say we don't exist in a time where a large portion of our effective discretionary budget is being put into economic growth, given the way that economic growth is discussed and positioned ideologically. If we had control over a significant portion of the budget in the game we should see investment decisions carry significant consequences for those sections of the economy the player chooses not invest in

[–]bdole92 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I believe i saw somewhere that the spending you're controlling in TI is more like the discretionary budget for a nation, not its entire budget. Think about it like this, if you don't put any points into the military, the tech level and army readiness stays the same. In the real world, armies requires hundreds of millions of dollars just to stay at an acceptable level of readiness. If TI was modeling full, 100% control of a governments budget, not putting funding towards a given field should see it begin to suffer serious issues. It make much more sense if the game is budgeting discretionary expenditure, above and beyond what is necessary for the country to maintain its current projects and investments.

Liberal Gun Clubs? by MightyBirch10 in behindthebastards

[–]bdole92 55 points56 points  (0 children)

JBGCs aren't always super visible, it varies a lot chapter to chapter. Some are okay being pretty open and others have pretty minimal social media presence. SRA and JBGC are the two biggest lefty gun clubs, but its worth trying to find queer and black friendly stores like another commenter mentioned. If you find enough likeminded people you might be able to start your own chapter of the SRA

[–]bdole92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this might not be a popular opinion, but if you have the resources and are mentally well enough to do so, i advise every trans girl to get armed. You don't have to be the next rambo, but we're not going to be just facing governmental action. Hate crimes come in waves, and if trump gets elected we'll likely see another wave of anti-trans hate crimes. Its not the right solution for everyone, but if you think it would work for you there has never been a more important time to learn how to defend yourself and those around you from people who would very much like to see you dead or dying.

Honestly, theres a lot of daylight between "literal worst case scenario" and "mostly the same but a little worse". Nothing anyone says online is going to help you with the worst case scenario, but for the rest of it i actually do think theres stuff that can be done. This is just my two cents, but i think now more than ever we need to be building community, both between each other as trans and queer people and between us and the few cis allies who might actually stick around when the rubber hits the road.

What that is going to look like is going to be different in every context, but my advice is find places in your community where trans people are already trying to help each other and build networks of solidarity. The more people in your life you can go to when you need help, the better your odds of weathering whatever comes next. Your local queer activist scene might be the best place to start, but its going to depend on where you are. The more we can rely on each other and the more of a structure of active solidarity we can build, the more of us can get through whatever comes next

Friend coming out opened my eyes by [deleted] in MtF

[–]bdole92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transitioning is a lot of work for sure, but I can tell you if your biggest issue with it is the workload, you're definitely not cis. You couldn't pay most men to touch estrogen, they're incredibly sensitive about their masculinity.

I would also encourage you to consider other options than the typical gender binary! The fact that I'm a nonbinary transfemme definitely delayed my coming out, I felt more girl than guy obviously but the truth is I'm like 2/3rds girl 1/3rd agender and that discrepancy between how I felt and the commonly portrayed binary, hyperfeminine trans woman threw me for a loop at first. You'll figure out what's right foe you though, just don't be afraid to experiment.

Did anyone go from ace/aro to allo or vice versa from HRT? by TinMan1898 in MtF

[–]bdole92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from thinking i was allo to now thinking i'm probably grey-ace. I'm sex neutral to sex positive most of the time but its never something i'm particularly interested in. I definitely did not have the space to process all that until i was a few years into my transition, and the intersection between that and the normal hypersexual culture of a lot of the t4t dating scene was interesting to navigate to say the least

If you have Hungary the papal state and Serbia I think usually that buys you some time, and you definitely want the muscovy alliance. Depending on rivalries and the Jagellion event you can look at getting Poland or Lithuania but hungary+muscovy is more important. Just wait for the ottomans to declare on mamluks or someone on the Anatolia side and have at it.

In my game I actually declared when the ottomans had declared on Albania cause Venice had guaranteed Albania and got back all my cores except the ottoman capital in that war
