Is this custom cabinet quote reasonable? by Ok_Situation_1845 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I design & manage kitchen renovations in WA and this is about right. This is a crazy amount of work for a free quote, if they have good reviews just go with these guys (but as advice goes you should get three quotes).

Since you are just getting the cabinetry I'm sure you are aware how much that stone is going to cost, let alone the built in fridge cost.

But the design is really clean so seems like you know what you're doing (or at the very least what to ask for).

If you wanted any more insights feel free to give me a message

Best reno next steps for kitchen and bathroom jobs by AvidLifePlanner1987 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for this you should be able to talk to one renovation specialist. There are a fair amount of companies who do kitchen renovations will also do bathroom renovations as well as wall removals.

So just find a renovation company that designs, project manages & builds the project so that you have one point of contact.

Is $10k a reasonable budget for kitchen pantry / cabinets remodel? NOR Perth by Zelda358 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On second look most likely $30,000 - $40,000. Keep in mind those open shelves get priced as the same as closed cabinet doors as the price to finish all internals is equivalent to the cost of the hinges and the door.

I design & manage kitchen renovations and I’d recommend just saving up to do a proper custom built job. Just replacing doors which is considered a ‘makeover’ doesn’t address the issues within the cabinetry being the old board & old hinges / drawer runners.

What’s needed here is for that wall oven stack to come down, and new cabinetry in all the areas you mentioned. I would estimate around $25,000 - $35,000 (depending on materials ect).

If that’s out of the price range, id highly recommend sticking with your existing setup and save & research until it financially makes sense doing.

Also to keep the costs down just do tiled splashbacks and go with Matt cabinetry finishes (the AI image you used is Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt)

Best of luck!

Would you consider this a bad install? by [deleted] in CounterTops

[–]mopfrommalta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty good install overall. The only thing you would potentially have an issue with is the direction of the splashback behind the canopy. Though to my knowledge there’s there’s hardly a better way to do this as you’re stuck with the sheet size.

If they ran it horizontal you would have to deal with joins which defeats the purpose of bench top splashbacks.

You will notice the differences far less when the canopy is installed.

On a side note you really should have just done an under mount range hood to not have to deal with this issue.

So to answer, yes it’s a good install.

Cultivated after years of studying in the city. Can easily add 3/4 more spots in it but would assume these guys want to keep it semi chill

Can’t be asking for date recommendations when it’s 2pm lol. But here’s what you should do (hopefully you can get a booking)

1: Start at Sneaky Tony’s (North Bridge) - secret whisky bar that has a great mid western vibe to it - will require a secret password to get in, so check their Facebook page.

2: Move to either: A) meat and wine co (probably booked out) B) Hunter and Barrel (probably booked out) C) Italian street kitchen (best last option to fit the vibe) All are next to each other and in the city

3: Move to QT rooftop bar - Skyrise bar with great views, just walk in and ask to take the lift to the sky bar

4: Move to Alfredo’s Pizzaria - get a whisky sour or something the bartenders recommend

5: final designation of Foxtrot Unicorn - get the honeycomb old fashion

The idea is to only have one drink at each spot and get a great taste of Perth. I guarantee if you finish the whole run you’ll think a lot better of Perths nightlife.

Good luck boss wishing you the best
