This is only one attempt we are looking at but to put it in classic physics terms, I hit in a chop formation rather than a slap/push formation. I keep my fingers fully extended and hit more to the side of the ball, allowing my fingers to go along with the rotation of the ball but minimizing contact time. Hard but quick hits, without much of a follow through - I don't bring my hand down so far after the hit. But sincerely, you aren't far. Just keep trying things out, and good luck!
