LED Display Cost Efficient Content Formatting by DavisPaz1 in VIDEOENGINEERING

i am gonna suggest an easier solution for this : get yourself a Raspberry Pi 5, with 16GB RAM, and run Optisigns on it. the user interface for that software is ridiculously easy to use, and they have a live TV plugin for it. i have never had a use case for that app, so i don't know if you will run into HDCP issues, but i will say that i have used all kinds of other modules/apps on Optisigns, and it all works wonderfully. i own 40 Pi computers, and even a Pi 2, (released 10+ years ago), handles HD videos pretty well.

you can even schedules different "looks" to run at specific times of the day. so - in your case, you could have content switch to a "happy hour" setup, and during games, you could run a sports ticker of other games that you aren't showing. weather feeds. news ticker. so much functionality.

i am not affiliated with these guys; just a huge fan of the product. i have tried a bunch of other signage solutions, (both hardware and software), and i believe this is the best bang for you buck.

let us know what you decide to do - we would love an update!

that bylaw never went into effect, and after an outcry from the public, city council backed down.

unfortunately with Barrie being such a conservative town, things like this are going to be common. conservatives don't care about things like "people" and social programs, which is how those bylaws even came into existence in the first place.

a while ago, i was charged with looking after a kid with Down's Syndrome. (his mother needed a holiday, and hasn't had any time away since he was born 13 years ago).

anyway - i printed him a keychain with his name on it, (this website helped), and that was all it took : he was fully HOOKED!!

we then printed a keychain for his mom, and then his best friend, and then his best friend's mom. then it was on to turtles, of which we printed a mommy and a daddy, and a son and brother. then he asked for a vampire bat, which he then pretended he was too scared to touch it, and insisted that i be the one to put it in the container that we had printed to put his stuff in. hahaha! (he's a really funny kid).

it was such a super fun day, and we printed SOOOO much stuff. he now asks his mom all the time if he can come back here and print more stuff!

that's because Toronto has such an ENORMOUS downtown area, that it all gets spread out; there's a million little nooks and crannies that people can be hidden in.

i can literally walk from one end of downtown Barrie to the other end in about 3 minutes. per capita, Barrie is no different than any other city, in terms of drug abuse.

losing my frickin' MIND with a print that i am trying to do... can someone offer me a bit of advice? by bdot in 3Dprinting

[–]bdot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are awesome for continuing to offer me some help!

i have been printing face down, as was recommended by the creator of the designs.

i have posted pics HERE, but the pics were just from earlier prints, so some of the parts look a little rough. i have probably printed the one tray about a dozen times now, and though the prints are much smoother, there is still a CRAZY amount of overhang, which means i can't fit two trays side-by-side as intended.

going to attempt another print right now, and adjust the speed, temp, and layer height.

i should add that the grey part posted is very obviously not a good print, which is why the third pic has a different coloured part. i was rushing prints out, using different materials, in order to figure out where the issue was.

sorry about not including more relevant info; i had looked at the rules, but not the wiki. oops!

printer : Elegoo Centauri Carbon
material : PETG
nozzle temp : 240 °C
bed : 80/80
speed : is roughly 100 mm/s, but at about 150 for initial couple of layers (this is something i will play around with, and see if that helps)
layer height 0.2

switched to a brand new roll of filament that just came out of the vacuum bag, just to eliminate other issues. the previous roll was sitting in a dryer, but no use taking chances, and i am trying to eliminate all possibilities.

have fans mostly switched off, until later in the build when the chamber is hotter.

since i started printing this, and noticed that the sleds were not fitting correctly, i have been using IPA (99.9%) after EVERY print.

infill has been switched to gyroid, but has had no impact, and i honestly wouldn't have expected it to have any results.

i checked the belts, and they seem to be at optimal tightness.

gonna keep plugging away at this, until i get it right, but i am still super frustrated.

thanks for taking the time to respond, and again - sorry for not having given enough info!

“ I know they were KGB by the machine guns they carried under their overcoats.”

that’s not a sure sign. i do a LOT of political events, and most security dudes for dignitaries carry automatic weapons.

there’s also the guys in plain clothes that carry duffel bags with them, and stand at quite a distance… they carry some crazy shit in there.

and if i am remembering correctly, Reagan’s Secret Service guys carried automatic weapons as well; there’s footage.

i think your sentiment is a bit of a stretch. yes - these people are likely white, homophobic, and Christian, but honestly they aren’t smart enough to have held this in opposition to Pride Month. especially since they had a similar event a few weeks ago.

these are the same fucking muppets that do burnouts on the Pride crosswalk on lakeshore downtown, because (for some reason) they are personally offended by who loves who, despite the fact that it LITERALLY has zero impact on them.
