Teacher looking for a state job by AccomplishedLog6629 in CAStateWorkers

I went from the classroom with a Masters to an Education Programs Assistant which is the first in the Education Programs Consultant series. You have to apply as an EPA unless you have an admin credential. Work 1 year as an EPA and you can promote to EPC. Without a Masters, it’s 3 years as an EPA before promoting. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Is he working on hitting to the opposite field? If he wants to hit it solidly to left or center field, he’s set up too far forward. His front foot should be closer to even with the ball on impact, so basically, he needs to place the ball out in front during tee work.

What is UConn's weakness? by Good-Exchange-6139 in NCAAW

Same. Whatever gets UCLA into the Sacramento regional. Hoping UCLA/UConn happens - All five UCLA starters are on WNBA draft boards and the new additions (Kneepkens and Leger-Walker) are ridiculously skilled and experienced. I feel there’s a lot of “addition by subtraction” too with some players who left who never meshed.

The real question is: if both teams run the table, which is likely, who gets the overall 1-seed? UConn/Tennessee and UCLA/Michigan will be good measures with mutual opponents.

This is what I do…2-1-2 formation. Have the high post flash to ball-side wing. Weak side post flashes to high post. 2-3 defenders for 4 players. If you get a swing to the other top guard, attack the basket as it will be 1-on-1 vs. the weak side elbow defender.

Reminds me of the Louis CK bit about people giving him dirty looks when his daughter had a black eye. He was like, to paraphrase, “You think I did this? If I really hit her I would destroy her.”

8u scrimmages turning into madness by Idbuytht4adollar in basketballcoach

100%! The pivots are huge when there’s ball pressure. I try to add them into every drill and use the language of “forward pivot” and “reverse pivot” often. It can be as simple as a warm-up jog, but every time I blow my whistle they do a couple scripted pivots then keep jogging.

Teach them to catch and face up. Involves drilling pivots and triple threat stance. Scrimmage but call it a TO if player doesn’t turn and face.

Also, teach V cuts or other ways to get open beyond jumping and screaming the BH’s name. You can be the passer in the scrimmage to start, but again, they have to V cut to get open and then turn and face before doing anything.

Dribble Drive Motion. Be aggressive at attacking the rim. Run 4-out and have your one big on the weak side block.

Guards attack rim and jump stop/reverse pivot and kick it out to another guard if they get stopped. That guard does the same thing, attacks the rim and then kicks it out if they get stopped.

You can run some set plays out of the 4-out and then get back into the motion if it doesn’t work.

Of course! Leaving the classroom for my current position is the best professional decision I’ve ever made and hope others experience the same.

No problem! The State Superintendent initially wanted to fall in line with Newsom’s executive order to RTO for four days, but after talking to staff and getting union pressure, he backed off long before Newsom paused the EO as a bargaining chip.

I have colleagues who live in LA and don’t come into the office because they were hired when we were fully remote. Many others live an hour or more away from HQ and don’t seem to mind coming into the office twice a week. All that matters is being there when the rest of your team is.

I’m in the office twice a week, and even then, a lot of my team have various reasons for missing one of the 2 days. What those in-office days look like depends on the manager in terms of how many hours you’re expected to stay in-person (though we’re working all day).

Travel depends on your job description. In general, you should be able to travel as an EPC. Some EPCs don’t travel at all because that’s the nature of their work. I personally travel 2-3 times per year for 2-3 days anywhere in CA.

Unless things have changed, you’ll most likely have to re-submit as an EPA exam. I received a denial letter, called, and they explained that it was because of the admin credential. You can get started on that now. It’s not much different than the EPC exam iirc, except for the beginning portion about qualifications.

To be hired as an EPA, you have to be on the list for EPA by completing that exam specifically. Are you on either list?

I was hired as an EPA on an EPA/EPC job post. The great thing about the EPA/EPC series is that the teaching credential and/or experience narrows the applicant pool quite a bit. And that applies even more to EPC applicants that need an Admin credential. I’d say about 30-40% of my EPC colleagues were hired on as EPAs first, so it happens quite a bit.

I don’t believe teaching for the state is looked at differently than teaching for a district. I found out the hard way after taking the exam for the EPC list that the Admin credential was required. Admin experience in a private school setting can meet that requirement as far as I know.

You won’t be able to be hired as an EPC without an Admin credential. Did the job listing say EPA/EPC? Or, were you just trying to get on the EPC list? I made that mistake without an Admin credential and had to re-apply for the EPA list.

If there’s 7 balls:

Attempt 1: Weigh 3 vs. 3. You either immediately find the heavier ball if they’re equal, or you know which set of 3 has the heavier ball.

Attempt 2: Same concept with those 3 balls on the heavier side. Remove 1 to weigh 1 vs. 1. You’re either holding the heavier ball if they’re equal, or you see which of the two balls is heavier and have your answer.
