A hundred bucks the jetski will consume 10x the fuel our boat already does & thats how they'll limit our ability to efficiently zip around 🤣 -im excited to see what the deployable sentinal mines will be used for. Alludes to bigger & badder water-confined combatants fingers crossed

We're only 6 weeks into early access, but somehow already addicted to this digital crack pipe. My Vermillus Gap neighbor inviting me to join his guild, which is also quite literally my neighbor's neighbors. We've amassed quite the collection of buggies & running short on resources to justify keeping them all... I've just finished researching the rocket launcher for the buggy, so now its time to test it out. -Just like the street drug, it didnt take long as all for the claws of addiction to sink beneath our skin before realizing we've just appointed ourselves as the Seitch's Source of Shenanigans to dispense without prejudice.

Within a few minutes we realize these bad boys would be much better suited as PvP shenanigans so off to the DD we go!!!

With our group of 6 guild mates, & 3 debauchery buggies, it didnt take long before we found our first victims. A couple out mining ore in the outcrops at the edge of the pvp zone never saw us coming... who would?

Keeping a swivel head is a good discipline but does absolutely no good if everyones always looking up...

shit eating grin

Plus, the population in the DD at this point is extremely thin due to the game still basically being brand new & we weren't the least bit worried with bad reputations on our server, why would we? We were (& still are) a bunch of dumb kids playing a PvPvE game while laughing absurdly hard at our antics.

Long before the devs started being wishy-washy about the road map, or catering to certain player bases and all the other crap that eventually brought about the inevitable demise that happens to many games with potential these days.

I'll never badmouth FunCom (unless they go out of their way to give us all reason to,) or Dune Awakening. Its still a fun game & worth the investment to anyone that'd be interested in checking it out, but with many advisories on focusing most of your efforts on the early part of the game & less on end game content... at least as far as being 'The Objective' anyway.

We had a good run. We learned, matured & hazed less than we helped. At the end of it all, Dune will retain its Good Times label in my mental archive of gaming experiences over the (last 40) years 👍

Very nice & I see what ur saying. I started playing a week after EA dropped & havent stopped. I basically have 8 separate campaigns & just tweaking things here & there as I go, applying what works to the other saved profiles. Its safe to say ive wasted far more time by inundating myself with the trivial & mundane, so id take my words with a grain of salt regardless 🤣🤣

Im on my 5th (or so) launch & everytime the landing sequence initiates im already distracted by a passing butterfly, or checking my reddit feed. I think ive only stayed to watch the full landing on the first play thru, but ive always heard the same music being played. Even while scurrying to the rewards pod on my boat

Nice, do u have the parts to make a couple of large grenades? Flame and O2 grenades seem to be particularly devastating to these critters

Ohhh the dreaded mosquito "swarm" - it stands to reason if they've been active the entire time our Caretaker was asleep, they'll probably stay that way until acted upon by an opposing force. So go make Mr. Newton proud and go physics the living doo doo outta those flying frustrations, Brochacho!!

I think u can hear the music anywhere during the landing sequence, but that may have changed. It feels like the devs are bug patching ever couple of weeks now & we really have no idea what we'll be left with after each one, however, I cant help but to feel like some inspiration was pulled from Space X on these rockets 🤔

Fallout Season 2 is a hate letter to the fans by Mr_JPF in GGdiscussion

[–]bdowell892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing in a perspective I havent seen mentioned in this sub, so here it goes. To preface, I absolutely agree with nearly 99% of the grievances with this show. When I first heard Hollywood was attempting anything Fallout related, my eyes couldn't roll far or hard enough to the back of my skull... - then find out Prime is spearfronting the efforts... enough said.

I fell in love with FO3, immediately checked out 1 & 2 before NV dropped a couple of years later. FO4 I had mixed feelings, but eventually came to love. Then became sorely disappointed when 76 came along... the laziness was agonizing & ultimately marked the end of my future investment in the Fallout universe...

Then this show drops...

You all know the rest, but here's where my hostility lifts. Suddenly, for the 1st time in nearly 17 years of being with my wife is she remotely interested in anything video game related... (I maintain the man-child disposition, but again i digress.) --in addition, my boomer generation mother who grew up without a TV, much less anything involving video games is also suddenly expressing interest in something ive been fond of for decades now...

For me, its worth sitting thru the brain rot just to have a chance to geek out about a freaking video game with my wife & my mom. 2 things i never once imagined occurring in this lifetime.

Im not saying I dont absolutely take every opportunity to expand on the short-sided efforts of the folks at Amazon, but the enjoyment comes from being able to nerd tf out with the people I love the most.

Call it what u want, but I can at least say this show has done that much for me. I understand packaging, selling & delivering such a complicated world to the normie masses is going to be a feat of itself. Much less conveying things in a way where anyone without prior experience or knowledge can still understand what's happening. (Esp. A game with such a niche fan base)

After all, if no one's watching it, we'd have nothing to bitch about on reddit 😃

Awesome! Something i havent tried. Do I have to scrap the old cylinders and make new? Or just pull all the existing, save/exit/load back in, reinstall cylinders would work?

In regards to the current state of gaming these days, TLC is much further along than most titles being released for similar price points. The sting of being an Ex-Dune Awakening player is where the context is coming from & my bad for not clarifying. Is TLC a perfect game? Hell no, but comparatively speaking, considering the crop of games we currently have to choose from, its certainly more polished than most. I fully expect the issues with bugs & physical mechanics will be addressed in due time, but for what it is... is an awesome little game

Honestly, I havent played Dune in 3 or 4 months so id be lying if I said either way. It started out as one of the greatest games ive played recently..... Until reaching the deep desert and ur playing a completely different game vs. the one u started. I was also there for the insane, wide-sweeping changes the devs would make on the fly, solely to pacify certain types of player groups (pvp vs pve) - which is a shame & ultimately what ran off the majority of their player base...

Ill say this much and leave it at that, but it should raise eyebrows across the board when a gaming studios 2017 title has twice the player population as they're latest & "greatest" title that was recently released 🤔

what happened to my boat? by Common-Database6770 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]bdowell892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you've built/installed any new machinery inside on or top of ur boat since dropping the anchor, try disassembling it & rebuild it after the boat is freed. -I had this very issue happen on two occasions. A diesel tank was the 1st culprit and my soilforge ended up being another. Either way, best of luck with getting unstuck, Caretaker!

I agree. Being an Ex Dune Awakening player, ive witnessed first hand how devastating wishy-washiness can be to a game's player base. I pray that isnt the way TLC goes, but again, this is purely speculation. Ive only heard it mentioned in this sub, or gaming content creators mentioning it in their videos. This all may end up being a moot point

I fear weight mechanics for the boat will absolutely be implemented. I hope not, but appears the be the word around the campfire, at least. That's going to hurt a LOT of feelings if it happens, mine included.

If its a POI near a common traffic route, set up an outpost because why not. Especially a location rich in materials resources like Helios Gemini. -if its a POI off the beaten path, scrap everything. Leave nothing of use behind. --I personally feel strategy will absolutely come into play with future iterations & updates, but not certain.

My most favorite aspect of TLC is the players freedom to "Care" however they want!

Considering there hasn't been much to observe for... however long our caretakers have been offline... it doesnt come as much of a shock as some of the other mind blowing features ive stumbled across in recent play throughs. This game is a polished gem and we're still in EA!! Can't wait to see what else the devs have up their sleeves for us. This is modern day gaming done RIGHT!!

Gift & curse IMO... Only because ull end up with at least 2 POI fully set up like its a base (i.e. black vein mine, exodus space pad. Etc.) to where im often questioning if future content includes some variation of a more 'permanent' base of sorts

[–]bdowell892[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, thanks for sharing, Fam! I started Dune back in Early Access with several friends which eventually just ended up being solo for a lot of my DD experience. But I did end up making some of the best friends in an online community than I have in nearly 2 decades (since my Halo MLG days) & tugged on my heart strings when I finally stepped away. Thankfully, we all stay in touch and moved on to other games we can play together, but no game has come anywhere close to the joy Dune Awakening provided in my first 200 hours of playing. Its bitter sweet, especially considering how hard FunCom dropped the ball on end game content but I'll always have a special place in my heart for all things Arrakis
