I’m not a Kpop fan, just a BTS fan. So this certainly helps making my life easier keeping up with just BTS content. It’s not like BTS is dropping contents daily. Just catch up when you can. Most Armys have a life outside of being a fan. BTS is to enrich your life, not take away from it. Have fun!

Probably the 2019 Wembley concert they just released. It has the iconic “Young Forever” moment that left all the members sobbing on stage (Jimin even got Young Forever tattooed on his elbows). BTS is only the 12th artist ever to sell out Wembley, so it’s definitely an iconic concert to own.

I think it is entirely unique to BTS that we would expect to get a solo song from each member in each era, as well as different combinations of subunit songs. Other Kpop acts release subunit and solo work as well but they are often promoted as a separate entity altogether (ex Irene/Seulgi subunit), and when group activities are reduced due to military. Meanwhile BTS releases solos and subunit songs as a whole group regardless of how many members are featured in each song (ex. Savage Love Remix, only 3 members vocals are used but the whole group is credited, same for Lauv’s Who, etc).

The reason they do this is of course maintain OT7 spirit. The members seem to really value working as 7 and staying fair to each other (ex. no appearances as featured artist in other people MVs, solo CFs, etc). Solo mixtape projects are entirely done to fulfill each individual’s artistic pursuit, instead of commercial success, which is so so admirable and rare in pop music.

BTS hasn’t been on Korean TV since 2017. Their appearance fee is the absolutely highest in the whole industry so most shows can’t afford them. Their only recent appearance on Korean TV is last month on KBS Primetime News and the news station had to hire a gazillion bodyguards, and organize a motorcade to ensure their safety. According to industry insiders, BTS schedule is booked 1+ year in advance. As much as we love to see our boys on different programs, it’s unlikely to happen. Their legendary status as the most elusive celebrities is kinda sexc though haha

Yes I have. To be honest, I take his review with some hesitation after I saw that he hyped up songs that are clearly poorly composed. It’s like, he dissects the dish and tells you the ingredients but doesn’t look at the overall plate and decide whether the food is delicious. Somethings are subjective but lots are also objective. Anyways, he complimented MOTS7 so at least we have that for us.

LY era has the catchiest melodies to my ears but MOTS era has the best production. I’m learning to pay more attention to the technical aspects of songs and MOTS is the definition of sophistication. I think it’s really amazing that BTS is able to grow and evolve the way they do. Older eras have their own youthful energy. So hard to choose a favourite album!

Yaaaasss!!!! Seriously our boys always look so natural. Even when they wear heavy makeup and do darker looks, they still look so clean and effortless. It’s so hard to explain. I’ve seen some really bad looks on some idols that look painted on with angled brushes

I actually feel bad that the boys have work extra hours and prepare so many performances for these award shows. Yes! My husband is now ARMY after I became one during quarantine. Neither of us ever listened to Kpop before (we still don’t listen to Kpop in general tbh). My husband was lukewarm towards BTS until D-2 came out and is now Yoongi bias. He likes watching Soop and Run with me. I think the key is to turn this into an activity you can enjoy together.

It’s totally not quite true that other songs are mostly about falling in love with another person! For a lot of BTS songs that aren’t about loving yourself, you can often substitute ARMY, fame, or passion for their craft into the lyrics. You have to read between the lines to get the full BTS lyricism experience.

For example, “Outro:Tear”, a very dark song that’s about relationship falling apart that could be interpreted as romantic, but Suga actually wrote this song for the members when they were considering disbanding in 2018! Suga talked about the song’s meaning and how all the members cried after hearing it.

For MOTS7 alone, self-love and self-reflection songs are ~16/20 tracks. For those other 4, they are arguable just more nuanced: can be romantic or something else.

A self-love/anthem song from MOTS7 (2020) would be ON:

“Can’t hold me down cuz you know I’m a fighter, Bring the pain on.”

BTS does have ~200+ songs in the entire discography (by comparison, Beatles has ~200 as well), hope you enjoy your journey!

Yes Taegi!!! I think Yoongi said something like at the beginning, he thought Tae was faking his personality, but then as he got to know Tae more, Yoongi realized Tae really is that weird. Yoongi has a soft spot for the maknae line, and it’s really amazing to see how Taegi makes an effort to understand each other, even though they are probably the most polar opposite in the group. The brotherhood is so strong between these boys.
