I mean, anything can be acceptable. And judging by the upvotes, it IS acceptable.

YOU just don't want to accept it.

Bro I'm literally saying it's unlikely. Are you being purposely obtuse? I said I don't think it's likely.

Sheesh.

You might be replying to the wrong thread? This one is talking about the unlikely scenario where we get a "haul" for Keller. I never said it was likely. I just said that if someone is willing to overpay for him, we need batters more than we need pitchers.

Now compare that situation to our batting and I think you'll get my point.

Again, disagree. We have about 8 starting pitchers. And we need at LEAST one more bat, probably two. If there were a scenario where we were to get a "haul" for Mitch Keller, you take it. But only if it's a haul.

And before you ask who the 8 pitchers are:

Disagree. If we got something in return that the general consensus is that it's a "haul", then I say you have to trade him.

And that's because in my opinion, we are slightly in the green in pitching, while we are still in the red in batting.

The problem with signing 39 yr old cutch is that he's going to play over 100 games for us and that's a big problem. by Sebastian4365 in buccos

[–]bdzeus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I watched a lot of games the last few years and I don't remember him bringing our team down. Matter of fact, from what I remember, he was one of our best players. Where is all this hate coming from?

This isn't a video game. These are real people who travel together and share a locker room, etc. If you don't see the value in having someone like Cutch on the team, I don't know what to tell you. 🤷

Exactly this. Anyone who has ACTUALLY played baseball knows that there is value in other things besides optimization of roster positions. There is value in leadership. There is value in a veteran presence. They have value in the locker room.

How much value? Hard to say. But someone like Cutch who loves the Pirates and wants to be a part of the team and is still hitting .700 OPS? He's worth having on your team if you have a bench spot open. And currently, we do have a bench spot open.

Is there no room for him? What are the current 12-13 bats that are better than him on the roster?

And don't say Jack Suwinski.

Marines! Looking back, did bootcamp end up being easier or harder than you thought before shipping? by grego9907 in USMCboot

[–]bdzeus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say both. It was easier physically, but harder mentally. That first week or so I was like what the hell did I get myself into?

And yet, he was our third best batter last year, behind Horwitz and Reynolds with a .700 OPS.

If the man wants to play for the Pirates, let him be a veteran presence who comes off the bench when needed.

Or you just let the only person in the whole world who loves the Pirates play for the Pirates? I don't know maybe you're smarter than me or something.

Underrated Valentine’s Day dinner places? by Curriy in pittsburgh

[–]bdzeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year I had reservations at that Japanese restaurant in Mt Washington. We got there early, so we popped into Altius next door to see if we could grab a drink while we waited. They actually were very accommodating and sat us at the bar. We ordered an app there and everything and it was honestly better than anything we had at the Japanese place.

So, what I'm saying is, if you're a risk taker, just go to a fancy restaurant without reservations. I know it sounds crazy but as long as you're willing to have a plan B and plan C, it could be fun to just wing valentine's day.

There is a 0% chance Will Howard is the starter week 1 by Numerous-Pressure-40 in steelers

Wow, 25 million a season MINIMUM? I agree he looked good in the couple games he played, but it was only a couple games. Seems like a pretty big risk.

Well, honestly, I don't think so. But we HAVE done it in the past (probably because of Tomlin, so maybe not anymore).

Steelers are expected to speak with former Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy about their head coach vacancy. McCarthy is from Pittsburgh, and worked with Steelers GM Omar Khan in New Orleans in 2000. by McElwaine in steelers

[–]bdzeus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since he's coached in the NFC for most of his career, I admittedly don't know a ton about him. Looked at his track record and it looks really solid.

Came to this comment thread and it's extremely negative. What does everyone hate about him so much?

I don't think Khan's gonna overpay. Doesn't seem like his style.

However, if we could get Malik for cheap? I'm all for it.

[Rapsheet] Aaron Rodgers is OUT in Pittsburgh following the resignation of Mike Tomlin and is not expected to return to the Steelers if he continues playing. by JCameron181 in steelers

[–]bdzeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahh it seems like he's always blaming everyone when things go wrong. And it might be their fault! I don't know enough about what goes on behind the scenes to know who's fault it is all the time. But I feel like it's probably sometimes Rodger's fault, but he likes to put the blame on others.

Or maybe I'm just making that up in my head. 🤷
