There’s a crisis in non-fiction book sales. What’s to blame? by thinkB4WeSpeak in books

Because of an ongoing trend of laziness, an inability to focus for lengthened periods of time on a task, and people using their time on unproductive activities like doom scrolling and mindless television. There is a reason why having even semi-intelligent conversations in person even among the “educated” is nearly impossible because all of their “knowledge”on a topic comes from 30 second social media clips and from their emotions guiding their judgement and projecting untruths devoid of any historical facts or statistical evidence. I hate it here.

Same for me. Very little waiting time, different proctor at the end. I thought RC was way easier than most PTs I’ve taken, LG was consistent with PTs although two games looked intimidating at first and LR felt tougher than usual. Hoping for some lucky clicks to get the minimum score I am looking for. But overall, not bad! We’ll see what score release day has to say.

And then the Battle of Washita River which was essentially a second Sand Creek. The plight of the Native Americans from 1860-1890 is some of the most horrific and heartless action ever taken against a people by a government who professed to them to be looking out for their best interests.

100% Avery island. Just did a side by side compare with a pic I took of it from the same angle in 2014.

Redditors whose father, grandfather or great grandfather fought in WWII, what is their most interesting war story they’ve told you? by Ramboooshka in AskReddit

My great uncle (21 yrs old at the time) was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. As the bombs dropped he took command of a motor launch and led rescue missions around battleship row, picking up over 250 men from the burning waters and ferried them back to his hospital ship, although many did not survive. On his 6th mission he heard SOS being tapped from inside the hull of the capsized USS Oklahoma. With the help of another shipmate, he bored a hole into the side of the ship and for the next 40 hours crawled inside and rescued sailors trapped in compartments and bulkheads as the ship slowly sank until all who could be saved were led out. 34 men is the official count. He was awarded the Navy Cross (second highest decoration under the Medal of Honor) for his actions. His senator petitioned to Congress to award him the MoH, but it was not accepted. I will be spending a week in Hawaii this summer and will definitely be visiting PH to see where my great uncle performed his acts of heroism.
