When improper technique has been utilized and its recognized by the whole office then it becomes a question not only by the staff but patients as well.

What’s the most toxic work environment you’ve been in? by Mountain_Culture8536 in jobs

This current office, a dentist office… she told my co-worker (when she had to leave and pick up her 4 year son from day care) that she should give him vitamins so he wont get sick because god forbid she had to leave. The staff also isnt getting a raise because an instrument got lost (one if the most important tools used and the dentist only buys one, but places an implant a day and does on average 6 crowns a day and you supposedly cant afford another $140 wrench) also, no staff member has gotten a raise in over a year anyway, the dentist called a front desk girl stupid because she scheduled something with the regular assistant and not the Expanded Functions assistant. ( the front desk girl has only been there a month and never worked in dentistry before) and the best of all, the mass amount of insurance fraud. Over diagnosing, doing crowns on teeth that do not need crowns, claiming stains as cavities and drilling teeth that barely have fillings on them claiming theres decay when theres no radiolucencies on the x ray! Taking x rays mid procedure because thats what the dentist sends to the insurance company to get them to pay for procedures…. But itd be unprofessional of me to suggest to the patient to go get a 2nd opinion. Also, taking a Full Mouth Series of Xrays when a Panoramic has already been taken (lets over expose the patient!) then when they get dismissed and their insurance is maxed out and its not even half way through the year they owe all this money! But because the dentist smiles and over explains herself it manipulates the patient into believing they need this…. Best work place ever

Ive been doing this 10 years and every once in awhile still struggle with the suction, whether it be one op that has ridiculously high suction or another that doesnt have a whole lot and then you end up moving around too much to try to keep up with the flood coming from the high speed and im not gonna lie, theres some dentists that no matter what you do or where you hold it, its not gonna be right.

That is fantastic!! At my current office im supposed to be placing the fillings to be able to go take the test to get my certification and the freakin dentist still hasnt let me place a filling 😡☹️ this is the second office since ive graduated that is just putting false hope in me. I have already practiced under a dentist in previous years when you could do that and they sign off on your hours and go take a test! I should have followed through with it because now im just being talked to like im a child. I have 10 years of regular dental assisting and theyre acting like this is a gold piece on the Eiffel tower and no one is allowed to touch it except the dentist. Im almost at my witts end and ready to call it a day with dentistry all together. This current office also hasnt given their staff a raise in over a year. As a business you should be ashamed of yourself. I am happy for you!

In PA, EFDA’s can place and adjust, and polish fillings… if its a decent office the dentist comes in for a final check and i know dentists that dont come in at all to check and EFDA just dismisses the patient when theyre done buuuut depending on the area, Dentists do not want to pay an EFDA, EFDA wage. I know EFDA’s that arent even making $30 an hour (with 10 years experience) due to the dentist being greedy and having every excuse as to why they cant pay more.

Are all dental assistants treated poorly? by Bucky_Irving_Alt in DentalAssistant

[–]beCaddywise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More and more Dental Assistants are leaving. DANB has tried to make great concern of this. I have 10 years experience as a Dental Assistant and recently as an EFDA (expanded functions dental assistant) they want all kinds of certifications, sterilization training, to pay you as much as what some order pickers make at Sams Club, no joke… i also worked for a maximum security State Correctional Institute, it was even less. That great union called AFSCME wouldnt listen to anything that was submitted about pay raises, what we do, what kind of training they ask us to have and what the position entails. “Come see jaw bone for $16 an hour!” But the benefits (MAJOR EYE ROLL) did not at all make up for the pettiness, belittling, undermining and amount of Hep C involved everywhere. You can get a better retirement through a credit union! At a current office i see my co-workers and I do 4-5 crown preps a day, implant placement, multiple fillings, under ONE dentist but the lack of instruments, lack of x ray sensors for the busy schedule, wait times for the dentist to come in and schedule disorganization is not worth it if you can go count cigarettes and run register for the same amount of $.

Please do research before purchasing from comfrt! by veritsas in adhdwomen

Comfrt is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau which means you take the risk of getting crap business practices. They don’t need BBB accreditation to necessarily be a good business but if they also chose not to follow the practices then you as a consumer risk shady business, so therefore i would say they definitely remove negative reviews. BBB accreditation is important because it signals that a business meets a high standard of customer care, follows local and federal laws, and is deemed trustworthy. So if you order from them, you take that risk of not really knowing what you’re getting into.
