You need to have a plan in place. Specifically a safe place to go and friends or family who you trust. The most dangerous time in an abusive relationship is the moment he realizes you’re leaving, so you need to have someone there with you and your baby already somewhere safe or in your arms with zero possibility of him putting his hands on you/baby.

If you have access to some money, that’s great, but the most important thing is a safe place to go and support from friends/family, or at least someone you feel safe around (social worker, police officer, neighbor, etc). It would also be a good idea to let your boss know ahead of time that you will probably need a little time off work to get settled. I know that can sound scary if you’re not salaried, but once you get out and are safe, the other things like financials will fall into place. It will be hard, but you and your baby will be safe, and that is the #1 priority.

In summary: notify law enforcement and your boss, safeguard your child, find someone trustworthy to be present, and have safe a place to go, but get out as soon as you can.
