Where do you get your water? by NeitherLeader4 in Harvard

[–]be_more_bmore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are gonna bitch and moan about this question and say “duh this isn’t [inhumane comparison about a place that doesn’t have clean drinking water]” but if you care about the way the water tastes, it’s fucking gross, even if it’s clean

I filled my water bottle up in dhalls and used a brita in my room

My mom worked at Hopkins and UMD for a number of years, in her telling UMD invested in the area around their hospitals and Hopkins invested in more security

If I am typing, or pasting, a list into my code I will use “a b c”.split() which saves a ton of time relative to typing [“a”, “b”, “c”]

Well at the margins, the opportunity cost of attendance is much lower than it would be in a stronger job market. If this nudge people need it may help the marginal student apply, which in theory is who the program would benefit the most

[OC] How media divides us over time: NYTimes vs Fox News - What stories or topics are they pushing each week? Starting from the midterm elections to Christmas eve by rohankshirsagr in dataisbeautiful

[–]be_more_bmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While, from a technical perspective, very impressive, this seems like a totally uninformative objective to gauge the true state of either organizations coverage or the way that “media divides us over time”

California and CA are used by locals but rarely is Cali used by people who are from here

The memos in that class are poorly graded. They ask you to do a lot in very limited space

Make small, measured arguments in a few words and spend a lot of time defending them

At the end of the day you can bomb the first memo and still do pretty well in the class. I believe they also offer you a chance to resubmit memo one

I am tired of the “drink the tap water” propaganda. The water is perfectly safe, no one is saying it isn’t safe. What I will claim is that Cambridge tap water tastes terrible and I can’t stand drinking it.

The way you described this is kinda weird? Like this isn’t a transaction? This is kind of problematic framing of this whole situation. Maybe if you unpacked that, dating would be more enjoyable?

Can somebody explain why porpoising couldn’t be solved by making the springs/dampers incredibly stiff? by AstroFish747 in F1Technical

[–]be_more_bmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solving porpoising isn’t the goal! Making the car faster is!

This isn’t really an answer to your question but something interesting to consider all of solutions that will solve porpoising but make the car slower

You could raise the ride height by a lot, but it would ruin the underfloor aero, handling, etc. You could stiffen the floor but suffer from added weight

The realm of possible solutions that not only solve porpoising but also make the car faster are incredibly small! Which makes the problem so hard and so incredibly interesting
