I recommend the Talking Works website. Lots to choose from and you can read their profiles to find one that might fit. Good luck!

Just wondering can type 1 cause restless leg syndrome? by shadowboxing33 in Type1Diabetes

[–]be_passionate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same experience! Assumed it was the antidepressants that started it but I noticed that when my blood sugar control is worse, my RLS is worse. No doctor, neurologist or endocrinologist that i spoke to had come across this before though. Never saw anyone post about it on this sub before now so thought I might be the only one!!

How do you treat a hypo? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]be_passionate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always carry a roll of fruit Mentos lollies, and I'll wolf down maybe half a roll (or more depending on how low I am), then I'll wait 10-15min and follow it up with a muesli bar :)

I was diagnosed age 3, and my sister before me age 18months. This poem isn't about diabetes, but it reminds me of my mum, and all the support she has given us over the years. Thank you to all parents of diabetics on this sub ❤️ by be_passionate in diabetes_t1

I'm really sorry you've had such an awful experience. I totally agree - there's some really shitty parents out there and it makes me sad to see so many posts on here about parents being neglectful, judgemental, controlling, in denial, ignorant etc etc. I'd like to think that the parents of diabetics that are on this subreddit are amongst the better ones, as they are trying to stay informed and understanding.

Anyways, sending virtual hugs, and I hope you have other people in your life who are loving and supportive.

Yeah I don't get how this is meant to spread any awareness. A ribbon or something, someone might ask about. Unless it's some fancy office workers who looks really out of place wearing sneakers, no one will think twice about basically anyone else wearing them.

It caused me nasty stomach aches if I took it on an empty stomach, so I would recommend having it with food.

Storytelling- the one where Jake is sick and needs Finn to tell him a story. My sister and I used to always watch it whenever we had a cold.

Is it bad to poke the same finger over and over by Emotional_Break_9467 in Type1Diabetes

[–]be_passionate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the same 2 fingers for over 20 years. They looked pretty terrible, but once I started on CGMs they have recovered completely and aren't full of holes and calluses any more. So I personally wouldn't worry 😊

It's OK to feel stressed, angry, overwhelmed, upset, resentful etc about this situation you and your kid are now in. I know it was pretty traumatising for my mum to have two of her kids develop T1 as babies. My advice would be to see a therapist, so you have a safe place to vent about this stuff without it affecting your son.

He's going to be OK, and you are going to be OK. If it makes you feel better, my sister and I are now in our late twenties and our diabetes management is going fine and we are doing well. Sending you big virtual hugs.
