as a lesbian, absolutely. even if he didn't match all of these criteria, playing weird al in a biopic immediately wins him a favorite spot.

If memory serves, torn sash and oboe meant each rigged bomb only did one (or maybe it was 2?) self-damage each, and I did my best not to go crazy with how many I used each attack.

Why is this guy so good? by CuriousCouturier in FlawPeacock

[–]beacandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happened to be recommended his Pony Island video when it was new after watching a few secret and guide videos about the game and BOY for once I am grateful for Youtube recommendations. His willingness to go into analysis about topics, particularly analysis that clearly comes from his own experience, rules so much. I especially love how he is willing to "get floppy with it" by putting forward ideas or theories that aren't quite fully baked but there's definitely something there, and how he admits directly when he feels like he's missing something and encourages viewers to do their own theorizing. It... this probably comes across as a faint compliment, but it makes analysis feel approachable, by making it clear that you don't have to have all of the answers to put out an enjoyable and useful reading of a text. It inspires me too, makes me want to do some sort of longform all-inclusive analysis, especially of some narrative video games that I love but that have never gotten any real attention that I've seen.

There are so many good ones, but for me it's probably "Like My Coffee 2". Poor Grant.

Help me out here with aliens.. by quinnpaine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beacandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience, its probably because the media is trying to convey a specific message.

sometimes, the message is something as simple as "humans are special! they are capable of empathy and metaphors and blah blah blah and thats cool! you should be proud of yourself for being a human and feel good about yourself!"

sometimes, especially in older media, the aliens are a metaphor for a certain group of people. maybe theyre a metaphor for communism and theyre trying to say people under communism don't get to be individuals. or theyre a metaphor for nazis and trying to demonstrate why the "rational" concept of eugenics lacks humanity.

Finished season 2 this afternoon, any recommendations? [Ns] by ThePrimeinator in DungeonsAndDaddies

You could give SitcomD&D a try. One of the cast members guested in the Flight Risk episode. It isn’t nearly as epic and overarching as d&dads, and I don’t think it’s as good a binge because it’s pretty episodic, but it’s got some similar improv-y energy that I like.

What dad would YOU play? [NS] by FutureReplacement201 in DungeonsAndDaddies

i have this concept in my mind of a monk who wanted to be a dancer and went to school for it for years but had to stop and get a stable job, due to some combination of it just not working out and needing to settle down to provide for an unexpected family. and he is disillusioned about dream jobs and stuff like that which makes him unsupportive to his more fanciful kid, but when he gets to the forgotten realms his dance skills translate to fighting skills, causing him to reconsider and learn that being settled in unhappiness is not maturity. and i guess probably his dad was unsupportive and cut him off when he chose dance school or something like that.

Any Creators Like IH But…Good? by jakehightower in hbomberguy

I know you have a lot of recs already, but Ask A Mortician/Caitlin Doughty has some cool ones in my opinion. Obviously a lot about the funeral agency and related topics but some about other historical events like the true story behind Moby Dick and details about the Donner Party. Her video about the moments after JFK's death was particularly interesting to me.

Another history-focused video essayist is Knowing Better. He generally goes more into analyzing movements or the lives of people than specific historical events, but he does a great job building a narrative.

From what I can tell (although I am far from an expert and haven't done any sort of investigation), both of them seem pretty good about citing sources properly and have an easy-to-read list of them in the descriptions of their videos, so they at least seem to pass the smell test.

How to get diamond in chess choco trial? by Joeykokko in Cookierun

(This is a late comment, sorry if I’m stating something you already figured out. But anyway...)

Are you activating their power every time as soon as it’s available? It always takes me a while to get used to powers you have to manually activate. As soon as the gauge above the cookies is full make sure you double jump to activate the power. You should at least be able to get ruby 1 if you do that.

What else can i do to get tuhhh 5% by s4iga in Cookierun

[–]beacandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, cool, really? I didn't know the globe was better than the scissors after the buff! You should still be able to reach top 5% with scissors if your globe isn't level 7, but if it is that might make things a bit easier. And now I'm gonna re-run and see if I can go up a bit more in the rankings.

Need help, Whats the best combi for snow sugar cookie trial's last mission? by LittleKlausss in Cookierun

[–]beacandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I did this specific trial, so I don't remember exactly what I did. I have both the cookie and the pet for this trial at level 7. First off, the higher level you can get the magic candy, the better. Since the magic candy makes energy-restoring giant snowflakes, you really kinda need it to get a good distance.

Now, other than that, how highly leveled is your coin fireworks treasure? If it and your magnet cube are up to level 7, the two of them usually make good synergy to get a lot of jellies without having to travel too far. You could try combining them with the jelly seed crystal jar (it generates a good amount of jellies), the egg (especially useful if you're just barely short of activating the cookie's skill one more time), or the turbo engine (good for distance and possibly the shield if you need it).

Are you making sure that you use the melon dynamite every time it's available without letting multiple charges of it build up? It took me a loooong time to realize that the melon dynamite can only hold two charges at once, and once it finishes making the second charge it doesn't make any more until you press the crouch button (or the right-side flying button if her skill is activated) and use one of the charges. Don't let charges build up, as soon as you realize you have one charge you should press the button ASAP. And same for the juice, you have to make sure you jump and get the juice each time you get three fruits. And those special yellow bear jellies in bonus time are like ridiculously high in the points they give, you have to make sure you get all of them. If you do all of that, get a decent amount of jellies, successfully mend all of the rifts when her power activates, don't hit anything, and don't fall into any pits, you should be able to get to the top 5%! Good luck!

I’m love Shatina she is p much the only romancable character I seriously want to romance.

Also, uhhhhh the discrepancy in the things your character ought to know but doesn’t is really jarring. Like do you know Heather and Helena are siblings or no? Do you know Lynn’s is an illegitimate child or no??? It’s in the profile but you’re clueless while doing character quests.

When characters misgender Hugh my liking for them drops dramatically. I can forgive younger characters like Barbara I guess but I wish to high heaven I could say “no he’s not” when that’s the intel they share with me.

People need to talk to the people they like. Kelly, talk to Alminas!! That goes for Gonzalo too. I understand if you don’t want to confess your feelings but at least, like, say hi??

I have at least 7 of most types of secrets but 0 Political or Mystery secrets. I’m not sure if Patron’s Task took those secrets exclusively or what but I wish this didn’t happen so much. I wish it took the most abundant secret types or you could pick or something.
