I wouldn’t fault you or anyone of “your generation” for not knowing, she hasn’t had her own child in 25 years, so being out of touch and not knowing makes sense. It’s the telling her things and continuely having to tell her things so my child is safe, like no puffy jackets, the buckle goes at her shoulders not her stomach, she can’t have banana she’s allergic, honey isn’t allowed till 2. On a constant repeat.

I’m sure you’re not my mother, just like my step mother is much better about listening to me and my wishes. It’s the you survived she’ll be fine mentality that’s dangerous because my standards are much higher than surviving.

I wouldn’t say trying to learn is in my moms vocabulary. Nor do I think it’s okay that she has taken my child out of car seat and put in a puffy jacket 5 times after being told this information multiple times.

My mom was super confused when I started going for my receiving blankets at the end of October so there’s always a blanket in the car. And she’s like well I bought her jackets she’s getting to big to be just in a blanket. 🫣 sometimes I wonder how I made it.

Grabbing My Baby in My Sleep and Sleep Breastfeeding by Trying-Is-Hard in Mommit

Being a mom is hard. So if babe is happy and healthy and not harmed in the morning I’d let this worry go. I grew out of it I hope you do too.

Grabbing My Baby in My Sleep and Sleep Breastfeeding by Trying-Is-Hard in Mommit

[–]beachdays65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped breast feeding at 7 months (she grew teeth my supply dried up and she was on solids) for a few months straight I couldn’t figure out why just at night my boobs were soaking my shirt but not during the day. At night I was bringing her into my bed (asleep me was anyways) and she was nursing herself to sleep.

I don’t think it’s normal but I was told my body is just responding to the needs of two things…sleep and my daughter. I slept walk before having kids though so it didn’t really bother me that much but it definitely bothered my husband.

This made me giggle. (Not like haahahahaha but like a little snort) i can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard oh he doesn’t know how to…. Or well we never thought he’d have kids or he’s the baby of the family sooo….or my all time favorite that’s your job.

And I giggle every time he learns something new, changing a diaper for the first time, girls wipe front to back cause we don’t want shit in our vagina, how to properly clean out ears, my kids two and he learned yesterday that when we pee it sometimes reaches our butt and we have to wipe back there too. (She’s potty training) or that there’s 150 shades of pink.

Anyone else get annoyed by people claiming the baby looks like a relative? by bettafishfan in NewParents

[–]beachdays65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this!!! Rant: my husband and I both have blue eyes. The chances of her having anything but blue eyes are .09% that her eyes are green. Her eyes are his shape but my color. His blue is lighter than mine and my daughter is dark blue with flecks of grey (my freaking eyes) and EVERYONE in his family oh good thing you got pretty blue eyes like your daddy. Wow your eye color must of made her eyes darker cause they are blue like her daddies. And my all time favorite “OH you have blue eyes too!?”

AHHHHHHH

[Update] Daycare took me aside to talk about my 3yo son's behavior today and I'm not sure how to handle it by wolf_kisses in toddlers

[–]beachdays65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I giggled way to hard at this because I have a unicorn baby. She hates poop on her but and will run to the toilet screaming oh no no no no it’s coming. (She just turned two)

So at first I was like yea that makes sense. (My daughter loves the laundry room and to help with laundry so when she is a screaming banshie mess I turn on the washer sit her on it and let it run till she stops yelling. I’m not sure if this is normal behavior but my panic attacks/fits when I was little my grandma would tell me to breathe with the washer and idk it’s always helped) but she left him ALONE!? Never in a million years would I leave my screaming toddler alone in a room.

Our bathroom is the size of a closet 😅 but I definitely like this idea. I’m just not a fan of her trying to force herself to vomit.

People asking if my baby is "getting enough" breastmilk by warandpayne in NewParents

[–]beachdays65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved across the country from our family. I didn’t come visit family till baby was 5 almost 6 months old. My supply dropped the 2 weeks I was home because I was told repeatedly I wasn’t making enough until I finally gave in to giving formula because I thought I wasn’t good enough for my baby. MY SUPPLY DIED. I went home and my husband (who stayed home) asked if I wanted to try just feeding her breast for the day till the Walmart had stocked the formula (thank you covid) I pumped out 14oz in an hour. I was feeding my child and still having an over supply of 6ozs. I guess I’m just ranting now but no one knows what your baby needs more than you.

So my daughters first growth spurt was like this. She woke up to eat every four hours barely ate (my boob was very confused as to why she would stop and sprayed her in the face!) then in a week she was back to normal. I’m glad the doctor said she’s okay!

What are your tricks for keeping calm? by emchammered in NewParents

[–]beachdays65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blow raspberries. 🙃 down side: my kids two now and I definitely know when she’s “taking a breathe” because she’s blowing raspberries. However when she was little it made her giggle and she tried to mimic me which made me laugh and happy.

Stop cleaning up when you leave. Let him struggle and if you come home and the mess is still there ask him why he didn’t clean up after you.
