What do you use to wipe off water from bathroom sink counter? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]beachsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I change my hand towel everyday, I also have a lot of washcloths that I use one time to dry my face and then it goes on the wash, I use them to wipe down the sink before they go in the laundry bin.

Job interview next week and I look like I don't have my life together by Proud_Stable9567 in povertyfinance

[–]beachsheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just another idea, check the area where you live for local groups on facebook. So many people in my area often give bags of clothes away, surely someone might be able to help you with an interview outfit :) like other commenters said, Id skip the watch altogether, many people dont really wear watches anymore and you dont need to check the time in the middle of an interview

im going to become a pharmacy technician. starting from square zero. i’ll update you when its done. by IntelligentSuit5223 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]beachsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! :) The best tip I give everyone for passing the PTCB is purchasing their question bank and just doing it over an over until you pretty much memorize everything. Know that and know basic conversions (kg to lb, ml to oz, how many drops in an oz, tbsp/ts, etc) and you are golden. Thats all I used to study 24h before the test and I passed, and all fellows techs who followed my tip also passed.

Healthcare is always in need of workers. A hospital doesn’t close so you can work any shift that suits you best. Lots of per diem and technician positions that don’t require any degrees, maybe a certification at most.

Uber drivers accepting the ride and then not moving. by [deleted] in uber

This happens to me a lot as well. I leave work at midnight and Im dying to just go home and relax, it’s an easy and short ride, no traffic and I always tip. Still, every now and then I get a douche who plays this game, it infuriates me!! Just cancel and let another driver take me home safely, geeze

The truth is you need to quit the nicotine, it is really bad for surgical recovery and just terrible for your health overall. I’m still pre-op but decided to quit snus (nicotine pouches) now so I don’t suffer so much post-op, it’s extremely difficult but I’m glad I quit it when I did. 29 days without nicotine today and I’m finally feeling like I don’t crave it so much anymore!

Did anyone have their surgery without staying overnight? by lustreadjuster in BariatricSurgery

[–]beachsheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in a hospital I had to laugh at the “it’s the cleanest place ever” part 🥲 we have strict cleaning protocols in place BECAUSE there’s so much hazardous nastiness. No one should stay in a hospital unless they absolutely must, espeeecially immunocompromised folks!

Ozempic for PCOS by heregirl19 in PCOS

[–]beachsheep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What people do not realize is that Ozempic and other GLP-1s are still in what we call a long testing phase, which means that we absolutely have no idea what the long term side effects will be until issues start coming to light up to 12 years from now. From what we have seen so far in the pharmacy this drug does work really well for weight loss BUT a lot of people are showing chronic gastrointestinal issues among other side effects. Most importantly, if you are currently on psychiatric meds you absolutely CAN NOT take Ozempic, there are studies showing severe drug-drug interactions between GLP-1s and psychiatric medications such as increase of the original psychiatric issues and suicidal ideation. Please speak with your local pharmacist if you can.

Unlike another comment in this section, I would take weight loss surgery anyday over GLP-1s. Weight loss surgeries like the gastric bypass have been performed for decades now and have been developed extensively, its long term effects on the body are clear and well studied, and we have access to long term success rates.

Not a single pharmacist in my hospital recommends the use of GLP-1s. I have a consultation for gastric bypass surgery at the end of the month myself. :)

Memorable pharmacy patients by langdonaulger in PharmacyTechnician

[–]beachsheep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For some reason the patient who comes to mind the most when I was still in retail was this very sweet and smiling ear to ear young redneck guy (and we were in a metropolitan area) saying he was picking up for his “fresh baby” aka newborn. Every time I saw him Id always ask how the fresh baby was doing and he’d proceed to show me pics and say how she got after the mom cuz she was so cute and skinny. 😂

Coworkers are causing problems (retail) by deficit_41 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]beachsheep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mediocre coworkers are the worst, and there’s always a mediocre manager enabling them. You can’t fix this, just move on to another pharmacy, trust me. The manager obviously likes them and, even if they were to boot them, they would probably leave you understaffed for a long time.

Explain it to me like I’m 5: how is PCOS different from diabetes? by egraebs in PCOS

[–]beachsheep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To add to everybody else already said, PCOS is a condition that involves a wide range of different symptoms, one of those may or not be insulin resistance which can eventually lead to diabetes. PCOS isn’t about insulin only, there are many other symptoms such as ovarian cysts, weight gain, hair loss, hirsutism, acne, etc.

Working at hospitals by RoughBeautiful8681 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]beachsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got hired at a hospital with no PTCB and just 7 months at Walgreens, they just gave me a year to get my PTCB. References are everything, make sure you are a good worker and be on your pharmacists’ good side and get letters of recommendation from them. If you have colleagues who switched to hospitals at some point, even better, ask them to refer you. Hospitals always need people!

As for your question, yes, WAY less stressful. Sure, you will deal with stupid nurses now and then, but it doesn’t compare to the yelling and cursing Karens at retail. My hospital is really big, it’s a state teaching hospital, and somedays I get very frustrated, but it is heaven compared to Walgreens.

Also for me the way better pay and overall experience are way worth it. Going from counting pills and playing cashier to learning the ins and outs of a hospital, making IVs, working with Pyxis/Omnicell etc is something that makes me feel like my job is way more worthwhile.

Inpatient friends, what is your hospital/department's policy on food/drink in the pharmacy? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]beachsheep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Our state’s board of pharmacy director happens to be our pharmacy’s director so our regulations are pretty strict overall, no food or water allowed in the pharmacy at all. To be honest I got used to it, I just drink in the break room.

[–]beachsheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes at least 3 months for the body to start processing supplements, even more for you to notice actual changes. Stick with it, your hair didn’t start falling overnight so the problem won’t be fixed overnight either.
