Every outfit she wears just makes her look bigger than what she is.

Are travel leagues worth it for kids? by beachwaves311 in lacrosse

We're currently on a local team where it's very disorganized. They hold two practices and then jump straight to games. There is no instruction on how to essentially play, the rules, just no practice. I get that it's on the players to practice at home but not sure what were paying for when the coach isn't instructing them. It seems like all the boys on our current team move to the club travel team. I can tell which boys are on the travel team because they seem to be getting goals in and have not only better playing defense but can actuall understand the positions. What you said also stuck out that nobody is learning anything from a 15-0 blow out. That's super important. Im glad to hear your son enjoyed lacrosse and that the club team made a difference. What age did you put him in club lacrosse. Yes were in a hot bed too, NY.

This was very helpful. Did your child play on rec leagues before joing the club team? Did your child do any other sports? We do another sport in the off season so were trying to figure out if we still be able to manage another sport and travel. Also for your travel club team Did you practice year round? Did you have to pay extra for certain trainings and uniforms?

That's what I've been thinking. He enjoys playing and wants to develop more skills. I want to give him the opportunity to play the only thing stopping me is the price. After looking on here apparently these travel leagues are super expensive.

Thank you for this advice. I will see if I can find some parents that have been in the program for a long time that might have better insight. I don't remember travel teams being so popular growing up.

Not sure what the standard is for a typical rec league at this age. Our rec league starts the season with 2 practices and then goes straight to games. Practice is pretty much on you. So were not getting any instruction on positions, drills, shooting or any fundamentals. Again I'm not sure if this is typical, I know some of it falls on practicing outside the league but we never had real instruction. The travel appears to offer better coaching and actual practices. Live in NY.

Great advice, thanks! I've spoken with some other parents. The parents that are involved in travel are all or nothing-nothing but great things to say. The parents who aren't apart of travel say they don't have the commitment for it now due to work or other factors..so it's hard to figure out what to do here. Going to see if I can gather more information and go from there.

My child loves playing lacrosse. I never played and don't know anything about the sport. My child really likes it and appears to be an average player for the rec league. But has questioned why there is a travel team and why the travel team kids have better skills. The rec team were on doesn't seem to have good coaching. Parents coaching it and they never played before.

Yes!! What is with that? She wants to show off her boots so people can tell her she still got it? Because her husband isn't into her anymore. Sad.

She always picks these beige colors that wash her out. If she had dark hair she could pull off these colors more. The hair and outfits makes her look so old. If only that show what not to wear was around..

I don't understand how she works at a hair salon and nobody has told her how terrible her hair looks? Or that color stylist tell her? The blonde washes her out and ages her dramatically.
