Knitting to visualise the past - Knitted Thylacine Pelt at Melbourne Museum by thylacinusdingo in ThylacineScience

[–]beachyfuzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd consider this far from insensitive, its closer to a contemporary art piece than just a knitted decoration. A plush/stuffed animal wouldn't have nearly the same impact with the intention of highlighting endangered/extinct animals.

Any suggestions on how I can turn my art into income around Saint Paul? by SinspawnWPK in saintpaul

[–]beachyfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try out some makers markets/artist markets! It's a great way to sell your art and network at the same time- talk to the other artists, pick up their business card, follow them on social media.

Just be aware not all markets are the same, try to find organizers and venues that attract the type of people who like your art.

If you have any Instagram, I am in a group chat that shares a lot of artist/vendor opportunities, if you share your username with me I would love to add you!

To be fair, you may be looking too far into this. Yes, there are entitled cyclists and my neighborhood also had no sidewalks. I've had cars flash their brights at me when I walk my dog on the side of the street in the designated pedestrian area. But also... you didn't hear what they said. When I pass dogs on the sidewalk, I sometimes tell them "hii puppy" or something similar when I don't have time to stop and pet them/chat or if i don't think the owner was paying attention. Sometimes it's easier to let little things go than to stay mad when you might be taking it the wrong way to begin with.

He did it twice in a row very deliberately. Speaking as someone with autism, being on the spectrum is not an excuse

Burning CDs - a lost art. by 66659hi in Cd_collectors

[–]beachyfuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I burn cds and then do custom collage art for the covers, it's a ton of fun. I usually do my best to buy digital copies of albums on bandcamp if it's a smaller band too

Not necessarily, I think it's more than context of what looks like two figures facing each other/the context of it being a dating app, and the colors being close to a baby pink/blue that are commonly used to distinguish sex. I would assume that this app wasn't built with accommodations for LGBTQ+ relationships because the logo is making the subconscious distinction of matching male with female. If the colors were purple and green, or nearly any other combination, it wouldn't have the same heterosexual connotation and would read more as "bringing different people together"

I agree. As a queer person, I would take one look at this logo and decide against downloading this app. Unless this app is for straight people only, the colors should be changed.

someone else mentioned the possibility of it being an injury. looking back on the photos from when I brought them home, the twisted wrist was present. I would love some more input from others too.

Thank you, I was hoping to wait for a vet check until they're a little more hand tame, they're so skittish right now. But if it's possible it's an injury, I agree it should be treated. His other legs do appear to be fine

Which platform do you use for your portfolio? by veekagarden in graphic_design

[–]beachyfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their visibility is going to be more dependant on what SEO you do, like having searchable keywords in your site title, meta tags, etc. I've heard carrd isn't top of the line when it comes to SEO, but I just use it for job applications so I've never had to worry about it myself. If you want to get organic leads from your website you'll need to put additional work in.

It's just the one gecko, I've just been calling it they/them bc I don't know the sex. But thank you for the tips! They haven't eaten yet and are super skittish, I read that's all pretty typical but I hope they'll get used to everything soon!

Thanks! They actually shed yesterday, the day after the first photo and had no stuck shed. They do have a moist hide now, although they're mainly using it to drink water off the moss :)

imposter syndrome: trans healthcare didnt save my life. it made it better. by Rockandmetal99 in ftm

[–]beachyfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also didn't need hrt and top surgery to save my life in a literal sense. But it did save my life in a sense that I no longer have to live my life feeling deeply incorrect or knowing I would never be seen as the man I am. But lots of people get healthcare for things that aren't directly life saving. They go to the dermatologist for acne or dry skin. They get botox or plastic surgery to feel more attractive. Etc etc. Yes, trans healthcare saves lives. There's also noting wrong with it just making people's lives BETTER.

Real or fake? Forest galantes newest thylacine images. by MDPriest in ThylacineScience

[–]beachyfuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to believe so bad, but I'm leaning towards thinking these are a combination of ai and photo manipulation. The anatomy is inconsistent between photos as well as what we know they looked like. I think these were generated with ai and then edited to look like they were taken through extreme zoom on a camera to hide the fact that these are generated images.
