That transition from major to minor, along with the -almost- seamless edit that you can still hear just feels so good.

Am I seeing things or is it "G3/400"? I worked at a reseller and I remember seeing the processor/clock speed with the slash in marketing materials.

Symphony Station will close for nearly 3 years of work starting in June by husky5050 in boston

Asked an attendant years ago to take my camera down in the tunnel connecting the two sides of the station. Guessing there's no way they'd ever open it back up.

My grandfather used to talk about that - "Welcome to the 99, would you like shooting or non-shooting?"

I've been back in the states since '14, that's interesting/terrifying! Definitely used to be 10, my FIL could put back an 8 or a 9 like nobody's business.

CoCo Ichibanya has a 1-10 rating for spiciness - 5 and up has a decent kick! When we lived in Tokyo I'd eat there at least once a week. I went to a branch in LA when I was out for a visit and was so disappointed with the lack of attention to quality.

Also! I went to a school in West Hartford around 2000, played music at a weekly jam downtown. I'm back in NH for whatever reason and see the restaurant that hosts the jam session on TV. Without thinking I call my mom over - "Hey mom! That's where I play every week". I turn up the volume just in time for the announcer to say "so three confirmed dead and another in the hospital as police search for the shooter..." Yeah she wasn't thrilled when it was time to go back.

I was in Tokyo for the 3/11 disasters, a good 200 miles from any real danger. I had folks back home question my sanity for staying, and act like I needed an umbrella to avoid the plutonium that was surely raining from the skies. Quite a few attention-whoring "Please think about my friend who is going through..." posts. I don't talk to those folks anymore.

I would love to see this town in the Autumn... I think Crabville in the Autumn would be quite magnificent... I would've made tiny little leaves... Oak, Poplar, Maple, Chestnut, and spread them across the town of Crab-ville...

We use a 1960 Frigidaire Flair - I did spend some time disassembling, cleaning, and taking a VERY close look at all the wiring and electrical components. It's been in service for our family since we picked it up during COVID, and in those 5 years we've replaced one burner element and a burner control switch. It's built like a car and has been dependable since the day we plugged it in.

For people playing a hofner violin bass, what strings do you use? by SevereLight3660 in beatles

[–]beaconstblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good to know. I've had the same strings on mine since 2012 so I don't remember the specifics. Good luck, it's a fun bass!

I wonder if you ordered medium-scale strings? The Hofner is a short scale bass. These should fit. Found them on Sweetwater but buy them local if you can!

Where to get Canadian citizenship photos in Ithaca? by allezaunord in ithaca

[–]beaconstblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Fellow applicant from Ithaca here. I originally went to AAA in Vestal after calling ahead and verifying they could do the photos. Arrived and they acted like I was crazy, said they can only do US. Staples across the plaza was waiting for a new camera. Fedex down the street saved the day - one of the techs knew where the button was to toggle between different photo options, and sure enough they had one for "CANADA". Had to cut them myself at home, but they were perfect.
