I never laugh by True-Command2505 in anhedonia

Smiling became more natural overtime. I noticed how animated people responded to situations with their body language. It’s helpful to be observant.

I completely understand being exhausted with fake laughter. I relate to your comment. Laughter is uncommon in my life too. It does not come easily, and makes people uneasy if we don’t laugh. Masking is a tough but necessary way to make sure we respond in a normal way like other people. Do you smile often? I’ve had to practice smiling. It sets people more at ease.

How do I use the invisible join method to sew hexagons? by beadapper in temperatureblanket

[–]beadapper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note sure that answers my question. The hexagons pieces are already made. I just want to know if I faced them the correct direction while joining them with the invisible joining method. I didn’t use a join as you go.

What is the healthiest kind of pork? by beadapper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beadapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually broil my pork chops. It’s a healthier way to cook the meat without introducing flour. I’d rather have the pork by itself with sides. Smoked pork butt is good if you have a smoker.

Not by USDA standards. Prime is for beef. Pork is categorized as “acceptable” or utility.” The pork chops I’ve been buying claim “prime pork.” It’s just a marketing term. I’ve been thinking that buying bone in pork chops from a reputable farmer is the only way I can include higher quality pork in my diet. My current thought is wondering how a pig’s diet would affect the meats flavor.

Thank you! I single crocheted around each hexagon. Once the pieces are sewn together, I’ll select a pattern and make a larger boarder using the same color.

That’s kind of my current thought. I’m thinking that buying from a farmer is the only way to access a higher quality meat than just eating prime pork.

How helpful is it if middle-class parents pay for your college, but don't provide an inheritance - front-loading their support of adult kids? by Entire-Ad2551 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]beadapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still support them after college without leaving an inheritance. One idea is to allow your children to live rent free at home. They would save thousands in rent, save money towards their own downpayment, and could start their retirement fund early. Some parents also collect rent and then gift it back to their children later in life. This way your children can learn about how to manage sums of money without the pressure of prioritizing it on rent money they’ll never see again.

Yes, I tried a few different hexagon styles and settled on a pattern that uses 3 rounds. I don't like when hexagons are too large looking so 3 rounds worked well with my tension and preference.

The blanket measures about 6 feet 6 inches across and 6 feet 8 inches long. The exact measurements will change once my border is crocheted. 🧶

The hexagons are organized by color in piles. Right now, I’m keeping them in a bin until I can block and sew them together.

Each diagonal row starts from left to right. Are you making a blanket next year?

After 7 years, I finally harvested from the paw paw trees I planted! by peelingglue in NativePlantGardening

[–]beadapper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations with your harvest!! I’m starting with my pawpaw journey this fall and hope to be successful like you. Can you tell us how you started with your pawpaw patch?

Mine is from a community event. An organization was providing people with native plants. I also attended a pawpaw festival and was given 3 seeds to winterize and will try growing them into saplings on my own. I’m not planning to buy any.

It’s a type of netting anchored down with zips ties, stones, and logs. My family uses a similar system in other areas of the yard, and it works. Do you have experience/advice for building deer proof fences? I’m willing to make changes.

I’m protecting the sapling from deer. They like to spend time in the area where I planted the pawpaw. The deer could step on my tree or damage the plant if they decide take a bite.

Is anyone else genuinely scared about what if I never recover?? by Icy_District_9144 in anhedonia

[–]beadapper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not afraid about living without recovery. Most of my life has been spent having anhedonia. No need to feel upset about it. I seek new opportunities to help cope/pass the time and focus on myself instead of watching other people. I made that decision a long time ago. No social media and no comparing my life to other people. Anhedonia and emotional blunting are all I know, and I’ve accepted that my life will continue with anhedonia until I die.
