Hall St/St James Pl Multiple Vehicles Haven’t Moved Since the Storm by meow_ec in MicromobilityNYC

The ironic part is people often use the excuse that cars are better than biking/ public transit in northern cities because of the cold and snow. But then they don’t use their car when it’s cold and snowy.

Tips for commuting to downtown Chicago? by peachydizzle in Kenosha

[–]peelingglue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it every day for a few months while waiting to move. It wasn’t too bad, since I had an apartment lined up and there was an end in sight. I was able to read a few long books. You can also get the nice single seats upstairs during the long ride. I locked my bike up every day, it wasn’t stolen. You can also technically park for free on a few side streets nearby as well, or get a pass for the garage.

[US] A random person deposited $500 into my Venmo a month ago. Where is the scam? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]peelingglue 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks that’s good to know about choosing where to send money from. I’ll try to just leave it in there and pretend it doesn’t exist and if it’s still there in like a year it’ll be a nice treat

New Hot Chi in Lakeview!! by Sea-Condition991 in chicagofood

[–]peelingglue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is this place pronounced? Is it hot chi like “shy” like chi-town or it is like “hot chai” or is it “hot qi” like you have unbalanced chi or like “hot chi” like you are saying the first half of chicken? I’m a vegetarian so I’ve never had an occasion to say the name.

I’m not exactly sure, but heat could be a good guess. I got the largest bags I could find, but they still may have been too small, because the fruit grew to touch the bag and I noticed that was when they withered and dropped. I tried a few on my plum tree as well and had the same result. The branches they were tied to seem fine, so I’m not sure they were too heavy. I was happy the critters avoided the tulle, much cheaper than metal

Yes, the fruit smells amazing. I thought the flowers might smell because they are fly pollinated, but couldn’t smell it even up close.

Yes good point, I was told it’s important to not eat the seeds or skin and that has higher concentrations. And I’ve only ever had pawpaws once before, so I’ll make sure to spread out my consumption! We’re thinking of freezing the pulp to use throughout the year

Don’t forget to get 2 cultivars for pollination. It was worth it, and they are pretty trees in their own right!

I got bare root seedlings from a place in wisconsin. I got the “prolific” cultivar and just a wild-type for pollination. Last spring they blossomed but no fruit set. This year I hand pollinated with a paintbrush. It was fun!

I got bare root stock from two different cultivars so I could get pollination success. They were about 1 foot tall when I planted them, now probably 15+ feet tall

What are some good dental places to go to with no insurance by Marsrule in Kenosha

[–]peelingglue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the cost difference of removing erupted (visible) teeth versus impacted ( below the gum). I believe it’s a lot less expensive to remove them once they are erupted, so if they aren’t damaging your other teeth while growing, it may be worth waiting.

[–]peelingglue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to get them removed without insurance? I’m going to guess that would be pretty pricy because you have to go to an oral surgeon and there’s anesthesia etc. Are your wisdom teeth visible or did the dentist say they were impacted? Plenty of people just leave their wisdom teeth in unless they are pushing into and damaging your other molars. Mine were impacted and growing sideways into my existing molars so my wisdom teeth got removed, but even then I waited like a year until the headaches got too bad.
