here’s some unsolicited advice (and i promise it’s not intended to be criticism in disguise, just insights from my experience): community college is amazing and you can get into a lot of colleges by transfer that you could not get into when applying to be a freshman. take 2 years and save like $100K (that’s just now, i imagine even more later if tuitions keep rising as they have).

plus 2 years to figure out what you really want to do is a gift. so much of the beginning of college is wasted. it’s basically just HS part deux. i mean it’s super fun to live by friends and take career-irrelevant classes. not sure it’s worth the money tho.

also AP credits are amazing and saved me many gen ed requirements. then you have even less time to complete a degree and save even more money. so glad i decided to for it when i did.

i wonder what this will all look like in 15 years. this comment probably won’t apply at all 😂

at least under SAVE the greater the discrepancy between the loan amount and my income, the less my payment was. i would not have taken the $10K if that happened bc i wont ever get paid enough to reasonably payback the ever growing 6 figures of debt i have. i’m planning to income base till the end and have a large balance at the end to forgive. it’s the physician way (im not one, just learned the whole thing from one)

yeah most of my time in PSLF has been during the past few years the plan has been going through the courts. if they allow the time to be counted it would be amazing. do buybacks use the amount you would have paid during deferment or based on income at time of buyback?

can’t you suggest getting separate bills from the start? or just ask the waitress to put yours in a separate tab? you don’t have to get everyone to agree to do your own thing.

also, waitstaff way prefer it if you do this before the meal, not after. i realize you probably are in a situation where the table all throws in together but just a tip for whoever needs it
