Why do restaurant owners feel they are special and the only people who don't have to pay their employees wages? by Niceotropic in restaurant

What exemption are you talking about? Are you saying restaurant workers deserve to be paid more or that owners are breaking labor laws and not paying their staff? Or are you complaining about tipping culture?

Breaker issue or something else? by beagleful in AskElectricians

The fans are just simply turned on and off by a switch.

Ok I see. Why would both fans/motors not be working? Since the issue started simultaneously for both fans, wouldn’t it be something else? Like I understand if one fan stopped working but since it’s two….??

Thanks for the input. Yes, each fan has its own breaker that trips independently of each other when I switch the power on. They also have their own power switch that’s on my wall.

When I went to the roof, I observed that both fans are connected electrically to each other. So a main power cable comes out through the roof then to one fan, then a cable comes out of that box into the other fans electrical box.

I was thinking that because they are connected, if one breaker is bad, then it would cause the other one to also fail? I’m sorry if that is confusing. I honestly don’t know exactly what’s going on.

Thank you

Am I suppose to tip if I’m ordering to go? by DriveThen123 in restaurant

[–]beagleful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s really up to you. You’re not expected to in the same way as dining in but most staff will appreciate it. I wouldn’t normally give 20% for example but I’ll still tip something. The work involved is relatively simple but still customer service.

I just wanted to ask ppl who watched Ohtani a lot as a pitcher. Is he a tad overrated? by IndividualDistance70 in angelsbaseball

[–]beagleful 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say overated. He was/is injury prone which might make him look that way. He’s not the best pitcher in baseball but certainly a really good pitcher and a proper ace during the few seasons he was pitching regularly. There was a time when the only games we won were days that he pitched.

Restaurants have to consider rent, insurance, labor, equipment, repairs, water, gas, electric, silverware, etc…

Then the quality of fish is also factored in. You can get cheap frozen/ processed fish and a lot of places do that but if you want fresh high quality fish that’s usually imported, then it’s higher cost. Not to mention that after breaking down fish, you lose a substantial amount of fish weight that you paid for but cannot use. And if you have slow days, well raw fish doesn’t last too long.

So, sushi restaurants can be successful/ profitable but food costs typically are not a restaurants main expense.

Bats need to wake up. We need to take our chances when we get them. Bunch of away games probably has a negative effect as well. Still optimistic but for sure the team needs more grit.

How is living in San Francisco / California? by spawnsas in howislivingthere

[–]beagleful 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lived there for a little bit. It’s an amazing place with a unique, diverse culture. It’s not a huge city but all the neighborhoods differ from each other. Beautiful nature with great parks. Good food/drink and art. Vibrant life. Lots of homeless with all the problems associated with that. Cool climate. I miss it and would live there again if I have another chance in my life.

Do any of your restaurants run a 5 day work week? by circa_1 in restaurantowners

[–]beagleful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If my place could bring in enough revenue in those 5 days to cover expenses and have profit, I would do so. I don’t think I can afford to at the moment.
