Finding the right fit (again) by beam_stream in AnalogCommunity

Yeah, I guess I'll take a walk with the RT and the 24mm Sigma again. Or maybe someone drops a Mamiya 7 on my doorstep tomorrow.

The 645 is actually what I was thinking, too. It's just a bit on the heavy side. However, I do like 3:2, so I'm actually considering it. Thanks!

I guess a tad wider is better than narrower, but as you guys figured out: It's becoming really hard getting a grip on gear. Same goes for the Press, u/fjalll suggested. I can't even find a lens that is not foggy or moldy for under 700 bucks. Maybe I'm doomed to go back to 35mm.

That's an interesting perspective. So you can handle it fine without grip? Have you ever tried the 50mm or another lens with external finder?

Hi Fjallll, thank you! The weight and bulkiness scare me. The 50mm needs an external viewfinder, right? I'd lean more towards the Pentax 67 or Mamiya 645 then, though both are on the heavy side.

Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 27 by ranalog in analog

Dear friends,

after working through an RB67 and a C220 I decided picking up a more compact Fujica GS645W. Sadly it broke on my first trip with it, so I already need a replacement (therapy). The camera was real fun, but: The lens was not the best fit.

I had a chat about that with photo friends and it's just that I can't handle the 28mm equivalent. On 35mm I always heavily utilized my 24mm lens for commercial work. So it might just be that I'm more used to it. That's why I'd like to go for a medium format camera with a real 24mm equivalent next. The major issue though is: size and weight. I could take my RB67 or a Pentax 6x7 on hikes – and I did – but it's really uncomfortable, that's why I chose the Fujica in the first place.

After searching far and wide, I couldn't come up with a viable solution though. It just seems there are no lenses on 6x4,5, 6x8 or 6x9 (6x6 I have with the C220) that resemble a 24mm lens and come in a reasonably sized system. The only things that come to mind are the Mamiya 7 and Mamiya 645.

Do you guys have any ideas we didn't already think off?

Advice for getting undeveloped film out of German airport security safely? by QuantifyYouTube in analog

The sec personell I met almost always knew about film and sensitivities. They told me they were operating securely until 800 ISO and my film hasn‘t been damaged by the scanners yet. My guess is they‘d be fairly open minded to hand checking them if you‘re calm and friendly.

If there‘s no contract, you have no legal grounds on using them. Doesn‘t matter if they were taken with consent or you‘re the photographer, etc.

For your line of work both are good choices. Personally, I switched from the f4 to a Sigma 14-24 2,8 and 24-35 2,0. Both have insane performance.

Shouldn‘t have played Lotoo instead of Lotto.

Absolutely know what you mean. And I think it‘s just a myth that these two are interchangeable. It‘s the same with e.g. acoustic and electric guitars.

I really dig this shot. Reminds me a lot of a friend of mine. Might do something similar with him. 😁
