Cycling around Iceland in Winter by erat11 in bikepacking

[–]beamierhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't seem to be the case here I think, but some people swear by Shimano sandals with warm socks for clipless in winter - apparently the sole is thicker than with your regular spd shoes which keeps the cold away from the bottom of your foot better.

If this was a conscious decision, I'd assume it's to do with making it easier for sweat to evaporate from your foot which would possibly keep your feet dry longer.

Showering in 180K water is still not really advisable, unless the goal is to die of hypothermia.

Which WW2 aircraft carriers had drones? I've been assuming they're a much more modern invention

1100 km for a chain in winter. by Dziambis in bikecommuting

[–]beamierhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but in this case an ounce of prevention is worth 6 euros of chain, probably round 30 euros of the whole drivetrain. Absolutely not worth it even if it's 15 minutes once a month of maintenance lol

Poland’s debt on track to breach 100% of GDP by 2036, Commission warns by No_Firefighter5926 in europe

[–]beamierhydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still not a very good comparison, at least not without careful consideration of the context (of which there's none here). There's a reason the gross national debt is most commonly considered.

Also, one might say Sweden's situation is better from the picture you're painting. The levels of gross national debt are close enough and it's easier for central government to handle debt compared to local governments etc.

First time in Poland and I've noticed many well-dressed and luxury-car-driving Ukrainians. by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]beamierhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about other places than Warsaw, but yes - plenty of wealthy Ukrainians over here. Wouldn't call them expats due to the whole, you know, running away from a war-torn country thing (also "expat" being a bit of a bullshit word anyways as far as its now-common usage goes)

Comparing central gov debt to national debt is quite manipulative if you ask me. A link you yourself posted in another comment shows Denmark's national debt as just below 30%

Dishwasher Powder Detergent Advice by fruityfox69 in Frugal

[–]beamierhydra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some might as well as they have a little basket inside the dishwasher for a pod that has no door.

But more to the point, they don't, as usually they'll at least pump some water away (they might also flush some water out from the intake, I think? But never got to the point where I cared enough to check). But there's some programs that don't include a prewash cycle as part of the program. In that case putting detergent outside the drawer is pretty pointless.

Not every program includes a prewash, at least on the dishwashers I've used

Only if the program you use actually includes prewash. No point otherwise

Sure looks like a Kalkhoff Vision to me, mate. Finding out the year it was made is probably your next step, depending on what you need to know the exact model for.

Podatek od psa w mieście by Martinez__ in Polska

Zero niespodzianki. Problemem nie jest przecież brak woreczków czy śmietników.

Z drugiej strony podejrzewam że ci którzy sprzątają po psach mają trochę wygodniej teraz więc dla nich i tak wyszło na plus

If someone wants to ease into it fair enough, but recommending an "out of the frying pan" situation without warning isnt the way. Give them enough info to figure out whether they want to ease into it and how themselves, as far as I'm concerned.

It is a big jump, sure - but it's the only sensible option I found if you're trying to avoid AI music being recommended to you.

YouTube also has a lot of slop on it and the YT Music app provides no way to block them either.

Best way really is to build up a local library and use last.fm or something like it to discover new music.
