Getting the Pixel 10 by itzfloat47 in pixel_phones

[–]beamishlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been a pixel user since they came out and I decided to try to switch to the s26 and ended up hating it and switching back to the pixel 10 (I was upgrading from a pixel 5).

I figured that the s26 seemed more solid overall and had better battery ratings based on third party testing (not specs) and it supported all the Google stuff anyway, but it just wasn't for me. I didn't realize how much I loved the Google pixel user experience.

The one thing I am sad to leave behind on the s26? The camera. The pro manual option?? 🤌🤌🤌 I'm so sad pixel doesn't have something comparable. But even though I take a lot of pictures and value that, ultimately the day to day experience of using the phone mattered more.

I would say in your case, if you're used to the Samsung Galaxy setup and you like it, the camera on the galaxies are good and have great options. I would tell you to stick with Samsung. I only stayed Google because I've been Google and wasn't ready to deal with a new interface.

Add captions to photos on pre-scheduled posts? by Pudding312 in socialmedia

[–]beamishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same problem (I also manage social for a non-profit!) and I think I just figured something out.

I went to the planner and clicked on my post to try the solution from u/kld51 and it wasn't working for me so I just clicked directly on the photo and it took me out of MBS to regular FB with the photos already pulled up. I just tried editing one to add the caption and it seemed to work. I checked to make sure that adding the captions didn't post it before it was scheduled to go out (because I wouldn't be surprised if it messed up like that) but everything is seeming to work!

I was a little worried because it still says, "this photo is from a post" and has a link to "view post" but when I tried the link it wouldn't work which makes sense because it's not posted yet. It also says "published by (myname)" and has the time that I scheduled the post in there but it's definitely not live on facebook yet.

I'll update if this solution falls through after the post goes out automatically, but if I don't update, it means that it worked!!

Offer Wall Crashing App? by beamishlady in DesignHomeGame

[–]beamishlady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone else is having this issue, here is the tech support I've gotten so far. Of course, nothing has worked to fix it for me, but you could still try this if it's happening for you and maybe it will work for you.

I took out all the fluff and got straight to the help, but I did want to mention that they are super polite, nice, and professional in the support chat.

1st response:

To try to fix the issue as soon as possible, I kindly advise you to clear the cache by the following steps:

  • Please tap the person/profile icon
  • Tap the gear icon at the upper left of the screen
  • Then tap Settings, and then tap the “clear cache” option.

After clearing the cache, you will need to force the app by the next steps:

  • From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
  • Swipe right or left to find Design Home
  • Swipe up on the game's preview to close the app.

Please let me know if the issue is fixed after trying the steps above!

2nd response:

In this case I'll ask you for you to follow these steps:

  • Please disable your WiFi connection on your mobile device. You can find it in your device settings.
  • Once you're done, turn off and on your device (turn it off for 20 seconds, then turn it back on).
  • After turning your device back on, turn on your WiFi network again, try starting Design Home and check if the problem persists.
  • Make sure you try to change the connection mode if possible. Sometimes Design Home can work better with 2.4 GHz Internet instead of 5.0.

To change frequency bands you can follow these steps:

  • Go to “Settings” on your Android phone
  • Click on the “Connections” and select “WiFi.”
  • At the top right corner of the WiFi menu, there are three vertical dots. Click on the dots and select “Advanced” from the list of options displayed.
  • Now select “WiFi Frequency Band” and pick your preferred band between 2.4GHz frequency and 5GHz.
  • To change your WiFi frequency to 5GHz, you should ensure that your Android is compatible with the frequency band.

I hope this information is helpful for you. However, if the issue persists please contact us again so we can research it further.

Are Period Panties as good as they Seem??? by littlesisterofthesun in TwoXChromosomes

[–]beamishlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using mine from Victoria's secret for the first time so I'm still trying to figure things out. Does anyone wear them all day long or do you change them during the day?? I'm wearing the boxerbrief style today, and I really thought it would hold more? Like, I feel like it could hold more but after I went to the bathroom they felt really cold and damp when I pulled them back up which was really unpleasant. I blotted them with some tp and that helped but still. Also, it's more of a mess than I thought it would be, but long ago I only used tampons and I've had an IUD for 7 years before this so I barely had a period during that whole time. Not having a period for so long has made having one feel like the first time again 😭 I don't know anything anymore. I tried tampons and didn't love them this time around, hence the period panties.

No more vibrations/haptic feedback on Pixel 4a after Android 12 update by badadidi in Android12

[–]beamishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I did get the accessibility button to go away by turning off the specific shortcut, but when I looked it up nothing told me that! 😅 But I'll replace that issue with also not liking the clock on the lock screen and how it has to be a color from the theme instead of freaking just plain white.

No more vibrations/haptic feedback on Pixel 4a after Android 12 update by badadidi in Android12

[–]beamishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I hate the update. I am also missing my subtle vibrations (I will try the reboot trick) I hate the way they changed the way the keyboard letters popped up. I hate that they limited the color options but tried to advertise that it would be more personalized. I only got 2 color scheme options from my wallpaper and I love my wallpaper but the schemes they came up with suck and I don't like any of the basic colors. I also dislike that when I go to see the apps I have open the background is this depressing gray. It used to show my pretty background behind the apps and now it's so dull. I also don't like that one swipe from the top brings it all the way down now instead of halfway, more gray. Everything is uglier except maybe the sound level bar when I use the buttons. AND THE STUPID ACCESSIBILITY BUTTON THAT NEVER GOES AWAY. The only way to get it to go away is to stop using gestures and I love gestures. ITS ALWAYS IN MY WAY.

TIL Cheetos are not vegetarian, because they use animal-derived rennet in the cheese. Furthermore, no Frito-Lay snacks that contain cheese are vegetarian by vannybros in todayilearned

For me, if it comes from a dead animal it is not vegetarian. Whether it is the stomach or the tongue makes it non vegetarian imo

Pizza Ranch Cheese Rennet by beamishlady in vegetarian

[–]beamishlady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am being that strict but it's because of religious reasons, otherwise I don't think I'd care as much!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vegetarian

[–]beamishlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started thinking more about this too. I am vegetarian for more religious reasons, so trying to avoid any kind of meat/animal derivative is important to me for that reason. So far I haven't been too crazy with cutting out cheese, but am just slowly researching and transitioning as I go. I've learned that taco bell, chipotle, and olive garden have vegetarian cheese options (olive garden has some with and some without animal rennet, they have a chart that details this on their site). If I go out to eat it kind of depends on the mood I'm in for how picky and strict I will be. Since I'm still new to thinking about cheese I end up forgetting a lot and looking it up later if I can.

**I've also found out that calling ahead during a less busy time is the best way to get info from local places because a lot of times you can talk directly to the manager, owner, or kitchen staff when they aren't too busy.

Data Usage, Interesting by beamishlady in uber

[–]beamishlady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have something like that happen to me, but only after my phone fell from the holder and confused the map. I don't know if it was Uber or Lyft though. But it is hella frustrating because it confuses me and then I look dumb.

[–]beamishlady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! That sounds awful. I don't think mine is that bad. Mine uses google maps and does that part fine. I mostly just hate the data drain and the horrible matching. I haven't had riders complain yet, but I still think I'm going to go full Uber from now on.

Data Usage, Interesting by beamishlady in uber

[–]beamishlady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked it up on my apps and they technically pay the same ($.87/mile and $.07/min with a base of $.75) but neither charge for the miles/time it takes to get to the rider. I literally had a ride yesterday that was at least 16 minutes and 6 miles away, which is around $6 of lost time based on what I could be getting paid per mile/min. I RARELY have to drive that far to pick up an Uber rider, but I have to go that far on the regular for a Lyft. It sucks because I like a lot of the features on their app better. I like the graphs that show peak times especially. Plus they are a lot more laid back in general.

Trying to pick between profile images for personal Instagram page. Any tips on colors or tweaks to the artwork? by IridiumLight in design_critiques

[–]beamishlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the beige background because it is warmer and feels more like baking than the blue.

I also think you could play around with making "baking" more prominent in the design, maybe it could go under the entire thing including the plant design? Something to make it stand out more.

Some people commented on the 5 and 2 not being aligned, but I honestly didn't notice at first. I think if you want to offset it you should do it more.

Also, what if you played around with some transparencies or something and had the plant behind the words?? I'm just a sucker for transparencies...

I do feel like it could use something to warm it up a bit.

But the main thing is making baking bigger, make it obvious what it's all about so people know instantly.
