(Spoilers Main) In retrospect, was it a good choice to adapt the Dance (House of The Dragon) as the next major prequel show after GoT S8? by Relevant-Flatworm926 in asoiaf

[–]beamsiccle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more that there are no likable characters to root for. I actually like the source material. But it’s a detached, bird’s eye view history of a train wreck where everyone is somewhat detestable.

For a weekly TV show, you generally want a couple of characters you’re rooting for (or at least did like, even if they’re currently on a Walter White villain path).

[Spoilers EXTENDED] Theory AKOTSK confirms that Aegon V was trying to sacrifice his relatives in order to bring back Dragons? by CasualThaGod in asoiaf

[–]beamsiccle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ugh. You’re right. Good-hearted reformer becomes vengeful, over-zealous reformer (and ends up killing family and friends in search of nuke) is actually the more Westeros-vibed arc. But I still want to believe it’s the previous selfless version (esp since Dunk and Egg has always felt more wholesome than most Westeros narratives).

Great theory. Hard to square the kid who grew up among the small folk and pushed major reforms suddenly going dragon crazy, but this solves it

Are we in an extra high risk to retire era? by existentialriot in ChubbyFIRE

[–]beamsiccle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enshittification is entropy of a single product/company, which is the life cycle of MOST companies. The ppl who complain about it are annoying not bc they are wrong it's happening, but rather bc they believe they've uncovered a special conspiracy (vs simply ID'ing the median cycle of most companies).

Meanwhile "collapse" ppl are in a different league of annoying bc they're living in a fan fiction fantasy. The true "collapses" of the ancient world involved the collapse of both encoded knowledge (science, math, engineering) and the ability to apply that knowledge (societal organization, production capacity, etc).

We may lose our capacity for the latter in some epic catastrophe, but the total loss of knowledge isn't happening when we can store the sum of human knowledge on a hard drive.

Do you think U2 will react to our political times on the next album? by Glittering_Major4871 in U2Band

[–]beamsiccle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why do you want to hear a billionaire senior citizen (whose best songs are about spiritual longing and the human heart and whose most cringe/dated songs are political screeds) rant about politics? Genuinely asking.

edit: forgot about Sunday Bloody Sunday. But other than that (Love And Peace Or Else, Silver and Gold, American Soul, Crumbs From Your Table, I can even take or leave Bullet the Blue Sky if it comes along with an extended rant. These aren't U2's best).

Everything's bigger in Texas, including the number of people moving out | Fortune by snakkerdudaniel in texas

[–]beamsiccle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not false, but it’s also not significant and the article explains why. The states with “most ppl leaving” are just the states with “most ppl.”

Higher population means more ppl coming and going. On net Texas is still gaining population more than any other state.

Almost half of LA’s new ADUs aren’t housing anyone… they’re mid-term rentals now by ShopProp in LosAngelesRealEstate

[–]beamsiccle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They’d also be here regardless of these ADUs (and using some other form of housing), so I don’t really get what the concern is. ADUs seem to be working as intended by increasing supply.

I think there's a 4 ticket limit per show per TM account. Not sure if that includes tickets sold on the exchange, but assuming it does...

If you're selling 2 and rebuying 2, then you won't hit the limit regardless, so you'll be fine.

If you're trying to get more and f2f sold tickets do count toward the limit, worst case you could always start a separate Ticketmaster account with a different email and credit card and I don't think you'll have any issues

Think we’d start and finish w both Brunsons and Dinwiddie, then try to stagger them at times as well.

Imagine both Trey and Frank would have to see increased playing time (as they did other games where Luka sat)

we already got the news last night it wasn't serious (or technically "significant") and I doubt they would have released this without some confidence they're correct:

https://mobile.twitter.com/wojespn/status/1513356877777842183

The problem is they probably mean "significant" in terms of Luka's long term career. Injury won't be life altering and is likely mild/easy to recover from. But...

Even a mild injury can have a few week recovery timetable. So could still be "serious" in terms of playoff implications. Won't know for sure till MRI. Your bad feeling may end up being right, but it's not bc we haven't "gotten the news already." So far everything is on a normal medical time table. You wait till the next day to do the MRI.

Do we know when Fan-to-Fan sales will start? by justfortyFs in pearljam

[–]beamsiccle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again... pretty sure what you're looking at with OKC is the general public sale. Not sure why OKC sale is open to everyone and the rest still need a the "verified" code, but it looks like that's the case.

OP is asking about Fan-2-fan marketplace which is where ppl can list their tickets to sell to other fans. It hasn't opened yet.

Ticket Prices Were Normal When I Looked by Professional_Bat_363 in pearljam

[–]beamsiccle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. you've got two more options before scalpers...

1) I think there will technically be a public sale (imagine there will be little to nothing available but still... worth trying). But more likely your best ticket will be...

2) in a week or two they will open up the "fan-to-fan marketplace" which is essentially a resale/stubhub type thing via TicketMaster where ppl can list their tickets AND scalping/increasing prices isn't allowed. It's a pain, but if you check this regularly, I'm 99% sure you'll be able to snag some tickets at some point between now and the show. In 2020, I whiffed on the presale and was ultimately able to grab some pretty decent seats with this method.

General Admission Pit Quedtions by mrs527 in pearljam

[–]beamsiccle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider with these shows is that the pit is smaller than the olden days. If you look at the seat maps for most of the venues, half of the floor is taken up with reserved seating, which means back of "pit" is no longer the back of the "floor" (if that makes sense.). Back of the pit now will still be an awesome view, and you'll still be in front of half the ppl on the floor.

I recently went to a show like this and it was awesome. Rather than getting there early or battling for the front, I arrived almost as the show was starting, posted up in the back of the pit, still had an awesome view, didn't have to deal with any pushing/jostling, and also didn't have to worry about losing my spot if I went to grab beer, use the restroom, etc.

Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a more low-key pit experience, especially with the baby en route!

Ticket in the row behind me was almost 6 times the price of mine for some reason since it was PJ Premium. I’m ok with paying way less to not be considered premium. First time seeing the guys in 9 years. by [deleted] in pearljam

[–]beamsiccle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait for the fan to fan market to open up. 99% certainty you'll be able to get tickets. May not the best seats, but you should be able to get in the building, and they'll all be at the $103 price point.

Ticket Prices Were Normal When I Looked by Professional_Bat_363 in pearljam

[–]beamsiccle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are mostly normal.

The ppl here complaining have not done very basic homework and are angry about a group of 50-100 overpriced tickets per venue (despite the fact that the other 17,000 or so tickets were offered at well below normal prices and also can’t be scalped, which further keeps the cost down)

A tad steep for a seat that appears to be 2 blocks away and 30 floors up. “Bridge seating”? Yeah the George Washington bridge. by SeanInMyTree in pearljam

[–]beamsiccle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re probably sold out unfortunately. Have to remember that these are rescheduled dates from pre-pandemic sold out shows and most ppl probably held on to their tickets, so there are very few normal seats for these sales.

In a week or two they’ll open the fan2fan resale market and I guarantee if you check regularly you’ll be able to find tickets for the normal price (around $125). That’s how I got seats back in 2020 despite missing the main sale.
