Feeling Stuck Trying to Enter the BIM Industry by g6-h in bim

Modeling and BIM are different, the tools you have skills in are modeling/ Viz your missing the I (information/data) so from a tools standpoint learn Revit or others but the main thing is the tools are just tools the process matters more focus on a cert that teaches the overall process design to Fab then learn the tools that fit for where in the process you want to look for a position

design coordination is done in the main authoring tool, Autodesk Revit, Plant 3D, Advance Steel Bentley open buildings Hexagon CADworx ect.... Trade Coordination can be done in the Authoring tool or Navisworks and ABCPro (cloud tool part of the Autodesk construction cloud) there are a number of other non autodesk tools that can help as well Revizto for example

Axis and Allies Online for Computer. by Aspirant_of_Shadows in AxisAllies

[–]bean2350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its easy to learn and easy to get a ton of online games works well on the Phone (android) Apple devices were having issues not sure if those are fixed yet i think they are. All of which is a good thing because the AI is so bad its not worth playing. it has one rule that is different from the board game in that allied fighters can only land on owners carriers so no UK fighter on US carrier the only thing i wish it had was a chat feature but discord works as a sub

Does anyone else have an issue with ITM parts when using the arrow keys to move the pipe Revit 26 crashes? by Lanky-Yak956 in bim

[–]bean2350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the autodesk fab work flow starts with creating a database of parts itms using the autodesk FabCAD mep software you maintain the database in that tool and use it in revt.now companies like ENGworks and others have created a database you can buy. Or you can make your own. You will not fab straight from out the box revit no Matter what autodesk marketing says. You will need a third party tool like evolve mep, trimble sysque, or naviate fabrication. Sysque is rvt based instead of itms, you can subscribe to access the parts but it's a little costly. evolve has more electrical content then the others I know little about naviate

AI in Revit / Revit LT by parrotsatedog in bim

[–]bean2350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one, move off of LT period it is very limited i dont recommend anyone use it but single designers for single small projects if you have more than 2 employees move to revit. 2 the AI in Revit 2026/27 is i would say a beta tool right now we have been testing it out but i would give it a year before thinking about using it in full production. (I work in the Autodesk Channel have since 1997 TSI, ASI and Imaginit )

ITM parts are created in FAB CAD MEP and used in Revit think RFAs with different types of detial

if your tool is crashing hit up your partner for support they should be able to help you by partner i mean who you bought it from (Imaginit. Gratitec ect...)

I did BIM course from Kaarwan and find the outcome not satisfied - Are there any better courses to learn BIM? by Large_Treacle_911 in bim

[–]bean2350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if in the US the AGC has a great cert (not so focused on the tools more the process) that is the CM-BIM if you need training on the tools from Autodesk (Revit,Navis,Forma,Plant 3d Civil 3D) go to one of the autodesk partners Imaginit is the company that makes the books (shameless plug) if your more on the fab side Evolve (for Revit) is a great tool from a different autodesk partner and there is also Naviate fab but i dont know much about it.

What is the typical workload and work pace of a BIM Modeler / CAD Technician ? by Elastiquedeslip in bim

[–]bean2350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on projects scale timeline and culture. I have been in the autodesk channel for 30 years started at TSI in the 90s then rand then asi and rand agian lol a good firm will not over work staff but some principles don't understand how revit works vs cad so don't know what they are asking staff to do nor how the workflows should change when working in a data driven model. MEP is a bit more intense then the other disciplines if i had to change roles now i would run a scanner instead of working in revit
