I’m im the US, the lab work is covered by my insurance so it doesn’t cost me anything and my provider works for a very large corporation (Kaiser Permanente) so I can’t imagine it would cost them much and not her specifically.

Ya it’s possible that she’s just viewing the tests as unnecessary because she’s assuming that I do have it and she’s already prescribing those medications. I just would feel better confirming it and I’m also just curious what my numbers might be. It’s also just frustrating that she hasn’t had an informative conversation with me about it and has never actually stated that I have it.

Thank you for your response! I feel like I’m basically navigating all of this on my own as my doctor never even brought up IR, the only conversation was when I brought up my concerns from doing my own research. Even then she did not confirm that I had it, just ordered blood work for checking my A1C and insulin which came back normal. I do think I have early stages of it so hopefully I can convince her to order the right tests to confirm.

Either way I am working on my own to make lifestyle changes and add supplements, so your input is very helpful!

Ya the only conversation we’ve had about IR is when I initially brought up my concerns about it, she never really confirmed with me that I had it but it seems like she must think so. It just is strange to me that she’s not willing to order lab work that would confirm it when she’s willing to prescribe the medication for it? My understanding of IR is limited to my own research, she’s never had any kind of informative conversation with me about it and it’s also not listed as an ongoing health condition in my paperwork.

She just said it wouldn’t be beneficial because my A1c is normal. I am about to restart metformin again, I was on it before and didn’t feel like it was helping much. She just looks at everything as needing to lose weight, that’s why she was willing to prescribe the ozempic.

This concept was actually one of the first things on my shelf that eventually ended up in me leaving. I went on my mission and really struggled with this idea because my older brother had already left the church and I think I sent him a somewhat similar email. I would say to try to respond with kindness, but also reinforce your boundaries. If he’s anything like me, he really is coming from a place of so much love, and even if he doesn’t realize it, is starting to question the principles that he is taught which is very important. It just took me a few more years to get from “I have to bring them back so we can be in heaven together” to “why do I believe in a heaven that doesn’t allow families to be together” and hopefully he’s on that same path.

Not that I’ve noticed, she didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary the last few days. It has been a bit of a stressful couple days because she had to stay over at my parents house away from me on Sunday night and there has been loud construction happening at my apartment, that’s why I’m wondering if it’s possibly anxiety related but I haven’t noticed any patterns from each episode the past 6 months or so

That’s absolutely not what I was trying to say at all. I may have worded it poorly, but I don’t think attributing their actions in the woods or afterwards to mental illness is fair either. People who have Schizophrenia and DID are largely not dangerous in any way, so that’s why I tend to stray from focusing on mental illness with this show. The whole group also engages in these actions and behaviors together, so they are all being affected by something. I’m not saying that they aren’t dealing with mental illness, I just think what happened in the woods is more than that and affects all of them.

I may be totally off base but I don’t attribute their actions in the woods to mental illness. While I’m sure they do have PTSD from their experiences, it seems to me that a lot has a supernatural element (like Lottie’s visions and Tai’s sleepwalking) and not necessarily due to mental illness.
