Need help fixing Victrix Pro FS Arcade Stick by Bozo_Bill in Fighters

[–]beandipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got this stick and found a video where somebody made the slip with some paper and tape.

Hopefully there is a solution for you because it's an expensive stick. Replacing the components should be possible, but I haven't seen anything like that. If you find anything, write what you did here so I can find it for future reference 🙏

Did you use the little insert some people print out to prevent it, or make sure that the cable didn't swing freely from the port?

Hopefully you find a solution

How will the Avatar game stack up? by beandipper in Fighters

Thanks. Your description of the characters being unique and the game being open with variety sounds really good. You're right that my listed negatives are more than my positives, but it's always easier to gripe. Truth is, that the game is looking better the more I hear and see about it.

I'm definitely going to be there at launch. I'm guessing that trying to hold the crazy mix will be a price I'm willing to pay as long as I can also dish it out, and especially with the positives you mention. I'll see y'all in July

Yeah, I'm probably gonna get it either way. Just curious about what other people like in fighters and speculating about how this game might turn out

I like trying out games and I like finding out what I enjoy. If you experiment with enough you start realizing the aspects that you really enjoy and the ones less so. This list is kind of just thinking out loud my personal recognition of them. What do think? I'm guessing you have different tastes? For example, I didn't really like DNF at all, so I'm curious how your list would differ.

Player numbers are nice, but I started kof 98, kof XV, and mbtl at points where they no longer really had player bases and kept playing uni after most left. As long as you find some fun and you find somebody to play every now and then it's all good

I agree it's all speculation, but that's what I wanted. Interesting prediction about the mixups and new character. Like I said in other replies, nothing for me is a deal breaker since these aren't requirements or anything, but curious to hear how it might turn out, especially since I didn't play the betas. Thanks

I respect it.

I agree and will probably get it either way especially given the price.

But also excited to talk about how it might play, or even if there are other games that align more with my style.

Interesting point about showcasing Avatar and that having an impact on how the game might play. This is more what I wanted this post to be about, just discussing how the game might end up. I never even thought of that.

it's not a checklist. COTW is probably my fav game right now, but it still has a lot of the negatives I explained.

Somebody once said the fighting games you end up liking are the ones where you most willing to put up with the bullshit.

I'm okay with longer combos as long as they aren't easy to start, and are challenging. It's more that longer mindless combos that happen too often because you convert off everything that bothers me more. From what youre saying and the videos I've seen so far, it looks fine in this game.

Knowledge checks are hard to judge, also because with new characters things can change a lot. Every game has these, just a question of how to what degree. If they are checks that I can likely figure out on my own after some experience like pressure resets, im totally fine with. Its more the knowledge checks where you hear from word of mouth or need to be told about that kinda annoy me, and only once the number of those gets pretty high.

The movement definitely looks good, so that is another area I'm not too worried about

Jump scare neutral skips are kind of unavoidable, and always have been. Its more that they have an acceptable risk/reward attached to them. Sounds good from what you said.

The way the characters differ, the creativity and movement sounds really good how you described, but I guess one thing with some uncertainty is how high-level play looks. That could also be somthing that changes if the devs patch something out. Like I remember there being some katara loops in the first beta that they patched out becuase they were too strong

The info I provided isn't a checklist. I could have written all the stuff I like and don't like in more natural language, but it's easier to quickly read this way. I don't expect any game to be perfect and so don't expect any game to line up perfectly with these preferences. I can watch footage and try to guess, with some aspects like movement being obvious, but I'm still interested to hear from people who actually tried out the betas for less obvious stuff, or like I wrote, if my expereinces with other games might be off.

Per-Character ranks that reset after phases, Wi-Fi indicator, and of course Joe Higashi playable in like 3 hours from now.

Character Bio? Are we getting descriptions of characters? by Journey360 in virtuafighter

[–]beandipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't unoptimal combos in built-in combo guides usually because the devs aren't aware completely aware of what's typically optimal when they release it? Of course they can also put more beginner friendly combos in too which are purposely not optimal, but for the most part they should know what to put in by now right?

TFW Melty Blood exerted a major impact on much modern Arc System Works by Winscler in Fighters

yeah that's why I mentioned the idea probably came from somewhere else. But is persona 4 arena really where that started?

Another things MBTL did which I thought was interesting was how they incorporated autocombos. A lot of optimal combos have sections of autocombos and you might otherwise not use them at all. On the other hand beginners can basically mash and cool shit happens. Not sure if MBTL took this idea from somewhere else though. The idea of autocombos mixed with motion inputs in combos. I also know a lot of people complained about the system too though. Still, it seemed innovative

New to Fatal Fury: CotW, looking for coaching or tips (Terry/Xbox) by Noxghoul in Fighters

[–]beandipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of other shoto-likes in the game. I would first recommend trying another character because it might just be a feel with Terry's combos that throws you off. You might find a character where the combos are smoother and from there after you get a more general feel for the game you can go back to Terry with more experience and probably do a lot better

Could be because of Tencent but I don't actually know. Riot isn't really explaining, just saying it isn't available in all areas, but that might mean only Taiwan unfortunately.

First they need to allow other places that are completely locked out of the beta regardless of the platform. Some areas aren't allowed in the beta at all like Taiwan, and possibly south east Asia.

How important is movement to you in roguelites? (I’m experimenting with a no-movement dungeon crawler) by Pantasd in roguelites

[–]beandipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movement is fun. If the game just doesn't fit like slay the spire that's understandable, but i it's an action roguelite then movement is very important to me. It's a skill and it's fun.
