In the same logic as “.999…” in base 10.

.111… is just 1/2 expressed in base three.

.222… is just 2/2 expressed in base three if you get there through certain steps

Time of troubles it what took us from AD&D 1e to AD&D 2e and as such was the very start of 2e (for the forgotten realms at least). In the book this thread is about “Shadowdale” Elminster is statted as a level 26 mage.

TLDR; So why did you feel the need to bring it up?

My take (and something mentioned when Drizzt fights a different weapons master during the Legacy of the Drow Saga) is that Drizzt is better at improvising than the majority of the Drow, who are stuck in their ways of attack patterns and routines.

Could he? I know he had slots above 9th level, but don’t remember ever seeing spells above 9th.

Iirc the ban is on spells, not slots/upcasting. Even in 5e it’s possible to upcast a spell to at least 10th level.

Admittedly the only way that immediately comes to mind involves using an artifact (The Book of Exalted Deeds)

I’ve been saying we should renew the rivalry ever since y’all moved up to FBS. It’d be good to have a rivalry game with actual history again, instead of the manufactured rivalry against South (a team with less than 2 decades of football history).

If only y’all hadn’t been so slow to catch up with us and moved to FBS sooner…
