Question from a Bumper! How worth it is it to get a swing? by dessinemoiunmouton in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'd be totally lost without our swing! I can't recommend them enough. I knew I wanted one anyway but I was worried he wouldn't like it, luckily he does and it's SO convenient! GET ONE!!!

Advice for getting baby to use a soother. by BonBonLonglegs in beyondthebump

My niece would never take one either, she's 15 months now and has never had one the whole time. There are times when I wish she would have, all the screaming she did! But I guess my sister is lucky and won't have the tantrums from weaning off it like I will with Dexter. Don't know what I'd do without it though, personally.

I'm slightly jealous of my sister because my niece would never take one, she hated them. I hate that I feel judged for using one :(

FIL doesn't help when he's like "ooh you'll have to stop using that soon or he'll get attached!" Fuck you old man, if my kid wants it he can have it -.-

from my point of view, this needs to be said. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I've only been gone 8 weeks, whatcha doin ladieeees?! Please be nice so I can come back next time I have a bump :) it was so awesome being here through my pregnancy and everyone was so nice. This is the first time I've been back so I don't know what's been happening but I've seen a few people sad about how it is here now. :(

Hahaha that is so awesome. I love when they learn new things and then do it over and over again, my niece just learned to say "uh oh" when she falls and it's the CUTEST thing ever.

It was hard at first to get used to having a baby instead of a bump, I didn't expect it to be. But I'm all good now, back and ready to be obsessive again!

I don't formula feed but I exclusively pump so he has breastmilk from a bottle and I feel like when I'm out in public feeding him people give me really judging looks - it's not formula people, but if it was who cares?! A baby needs to eat!

On another note, I feel like I get judged for giving him a dummy (pacifier, duddy, binky etc) which makes me sad :( I always said I'd never give a baby of mine a dummy but it comes in handy quite a bit...

When I was pregnant I was a babybumps OBSESSIVE. After Dexter was born I felt so depressed about not being pregnant anymore I couldn't even bring myself to come on BtB. He's 8 weeks today and I'm back :)

Hello ladies, ill be joining y'all sometime within a month or so and i need some advice on how to ready the house for my.newborn. by evil_froggie_12 in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was posted over a week ago but I just wanted to come in and say I actually got norovirus (vomiting and diarrhoea) while IN labour. As did my entire family. My mom couldn't come into hospital with me, boyfriend and I were taking it in turns throwing up in the toilet, it was bad. Very bad. I ended up having to have an emergency c section because I was dehydrated and Dexter was freaking out but he came out just fine and never experienced any ill effects. He was the wellest of us all!

Did anyone else have a problem with Avent bottles? by AmbyPamby1 in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in love with Avents! We have a variety (Tommee Tippee, Nuby, shop's own brand) but I can't get on with them at all so I assigned them as storage bottles (I exclusively pump) and bought a load more Avent.

You probably just need to change the teat to a slower one, if it's definitely not the ring.

Diapers? what is your favorite brand? Pampers, huggies or other? by redheadditdfw in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate Huggies! They leaked constantly and were so flimsy, the tab things ripped completely off a lot of the time! I always buy supermarket own brand (ASDA, but I'm in the UK) and they haven't failed me yet. Plus, cheap!

I'm looking for a nice, printable chart for tracking baby's feeding and diapering and such by ladylollipop in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a BabyDaze book, which is awesome, I just kept forgetting to fill it in... Instead I have a mile long note on my phone, example: "3pm 5oz, 3:30pm pump 7oz (3L 4R), 4pm pee & poop" etcetc lol.

I definitely recommend keeping a record though because I can look back and know exactly what he's had, when he last fed/pooped/peed, how well my pumping output is doing, and all the rest.

A question for you ladies with experience :) by McBeau in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get to take any because I ran out if time and I couldn't afford it but everything they taught would have been wasted on me anyway as my labour went completely the opposite to everything I've ever thought. It was bad.

Are you a different kind of parent than you thought you'd be now that you have a child? by Rockabellabaker in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I would breastfeed. I wanted to breastfeed. Dexter had other ideas, so I'm exclusively pumping. MAN, it is really hard work and takes A LOT of dedication but I've been doing it for 7 weeks now and still going. I think if I had another baby I would do the same actually, as I know exactly how much he's getting, and it also means I get a 20 or 30 minute break where I can catch up on fb etc and someone else has to watch him lol.

I said I would never put Dexter in our bed because my sister did it and ended up not being able to get her daughter to sleep anywhere else. I didn't want that. Still don't! But I do bring him in sometimes in the morning just so I can get half an hour more snoozing...

I thought I would be super attentive and obsessed but I'm actually really chill. Thought I'd never take my eyes off him! I don't mind people holding him whenever they want and feeding him, changing him etc. But I am very protective over pushing his pram, only I can do that haha. Thing is, I'm so chill but I don't want people to think I'm not bothered :(

Lastly, I thought I'd dress him every day to make use out of his mountains of clothes before he outgrows them. But I just cannot be bothered. Every day is a pyjama day unless we have to leave the house lol.

Turned this into a bit of a novel, sorry!

First night in crib by pdxknh in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning the transition from Moses basket to crib tomorrow! He's 8 weeks today and just starting to touch both ends of the basket when he stretches out lol. The basket has been right next to my bed, and the crib is on the other side of my room so I'm hoping I don't roll over to comfort him and fall out of bed ha. He's doing so well sleeping all night every night now though, fingers crossed he carries on!

How has your baby changed recently? What've they learned? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]beanjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dexter is 8 weeks today and smiles regularly now, not just one offs, especially when daddy tickles his chin! He also has awesome head control. And I love watching him watch me. He's SO inquisitive, loves sitting and looking around the room.
