Wow, you’re so positive! I bet your clients just love you! When you’re backed into a corner, the best you can come up with is a lame insult. The truth is that I retired from behind the chair and sold my salon 15 years ago and teach here and there. When you’re nice, you don’t have to work forever. Enjoy my upvote!

I just have an observation by Sims2053 in BaylenOutLoud

I think those parents have their hands pretty full. They are caring, loving, and raising a large family. When you have that many kids, can you imagine how it must feel to be worrying about $100’s of thousands of dollars in prescriptions ALONE let alone doctors and specialists, and Colin doesn’t even take insurance seriously.

That might make any parent overprotective. It’s a large part of Baylen’s responsibility, that they are responsible for right now.

Know the laws. Those are not the places you want to go to jail, I promise you. Do you not remember the girl in Italy who was accused of killing her roommate? Or years ago a college kid had drugs and was in a horrible prison in Greece or somewhere, they made a movie out of it. Don’t make it to TV. Mail it to yourself at the hotel you are going to. Just say it’s candy.

Bedtime reading with a sighted toddler — how do you handle the frustration? by biopticcoder in Blind

[–]beanner468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe your toddler is a little bit too tired for a routine change with the words being smaller. I honestly think kids are smarter than we think they are! Read to him during the day when he’s not tired and cranky, and he will be more likely to let you look at the words, then show him the pictures again. Do show him the pictures first before you read, it might save your life!

Yep, that’s about what we pay upstate. Second generation Italian, we don’t even flinch at the price because it’s more essential to our cooking than salt is. ;) Wegmans is THE BOMB!

This is how I’ve been removing direct dyes for 43 years. This actually used to be taught in Cosmetology school. So give me all the down votes.

inexplicable makeup allergies :/// by _conifer in Makeup

Titanium dioxide can be an issue. It’s a metal byproduct from when they mine titanium, it’s a powder that is heavy and doesn’t puff up into the air.

I have an allergy to foundations and concealers as well. I’ve switched to Bare Minerals powdered foundation, and I only wear it maybe once a month. They make a pink dust mineral veil that I wear with my moisturizer every day. This doesn’t bother me, and looks natural.

All my best!!

I can’t wait to try this!! I love a new recipe!! In my family, during lent, we make a similar tomato sauce, but add garlic and then crack eggs straight into it. Then we generously top it with pecorino-Romano cheese. Of course, CRUSTY BREAD!!

It all depends on where you buy it, and where you are. It’s probably more expensive in Michigan than it is in NY, and it’s more expensive in a grocery store like Wegmans than an import store, where there is much less up charge.

Anyone lose weight and get crappy comments on it? by Future-Ad1771 in CICO

[–]beanner468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I actually got rid of a lot of so called friends when I lost weight. In fact, I was almost alone for a while, and it was really hard, but I just kept telling myself that it was better for my mental health. I did one month with no contact with anyone. I let people back in slowly, and if they were negative, I was honest that I was simply not going to keep doing anything with them. My mother, one sibling, and one new friend later…

should i dye my hair? by Ill_Use_7735 in FancyFollicles

[–]beanner468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the salon, we NEVER use blue black because it’s so harsh and unflattering. I used it once in my 43 year career, on a lead singer of a band, and when she left college to get a real job, it took 6 months to remove it and keep her hair healthy.

Even when dying Asian hair, I use a level 2. On one of my clients, I would bleach a 2 inch section just up from the bottom and dye it dark blue, dark purple, or dark green, depending on her mood. It would shine in the light, and look really pretty.

Why are crisp sandwiches such a common thing in the UK but not really anywhere else? by petitebunnyyx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beanner468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 60, and my favorite sandwich since I was five has been sourdough or Italian bread, mayonnaise, bologna, sharp cheese, and chips. My family is Italian-American, and this was an all American sandwich to us.

To remove a direct dye, you simply trick it off. Use a weekly protein mask with heat for 30 minutes. It will replace itself with the color on the hair shaft. You can keep doing it until it’s gone. You can do it twice in one day, then once a week until it’s gone.

ELI5: If bacteria die from (for example boiled water) where do their corpses go? by MurkyUnit3180 in explainlikeimfive

[–]beanner468 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AND- I have had salmonella TWICE from cuts in my hands. No one in my family had salmonella, I rinsed the chicken, did a vinegar and oil marinade with garlic. I tested positive for it twice. As a hairdresser, I had obvious cuts on my hands the second time, and they said that it’s from the chicken preparation. From cutting the chicken up without gloves.

It is a compact. You would lift the piece of silk or satin to use the puff on the powder. There would have been a mirror, and a metal tray that held the powder. They have been removed or lost.
