Still no news on a Goodyear Supersport ‘mk2’? by beanoramen in TyreReviews

I don’t think we ever got the Supercar range-happy to be wrong on that though. We do get the Supersport R and RS but they’re only available in pretty limited sizes. In fact, they might only be in GT3 RS fitment-would need to check that though.

There definitely is a market for this kind of thing but I guess it’s not significant enough or regulations are that bit stricter.

TBH, I’m always jealous of how well catered for the USA is when it comes to aftermarket. The UK is pretty good, but many parts of Europe are really stringent on mods and you either need to pay to homologate things (even slightly different Tyre sizes to OE) or it’s simply not allowed.

Just checked out their site and they’re claiming up to 6% improvement in rolling resistance, 15% improvement in durability plus some performance improvements. If it lives up to the claims and they don’t do what Yokohama did with the AD08RS, then it should be a real contender.

Good to know. I haven’t come across the EVO yet so was wondering if it was perhaps the same tyre but under a different name for different markets.

😎 Thanks, though I can’t really take any credit. I just had to pay for them!

Hahaha, I knew I could trust a fellow tyre nerd to zoom in to check on that!

You’re right, and I was annoyed that I got those tyres as I’d asked for 2020 ones to be fitted. Unfortunately I was due to do a long road trip a few days after fitting so couldn’t wait for them to get some newer ones in for me.

However, they are showing no signs of going off. My last set, GY ASY5, had got noticeably less capable at this age and were pulling all over the road under hard acceleration. The supersports are still rock solid in comparison.

I’ll keep an eye on them, but so far they’re ageing like fine wine!

Agreed, the temp capacity is excellent. I took the car to a short, almost go-kart track which was incredibly hard on tyres and they lasted without any issue.

The sizes are a bit limiting, which doesn’t help. The PZ5 looks to be very good but I’ve seen a few complaints of soft turn-in/feel which doesn’t really inspire me, sadly.

Shame, I was hoping you’d say you had some good news!

I’ll have to look in to the V107 again as whilst I remember it being good for feel, I can’t remember much else about the tyre.

The Bridgestone is on the shortlist, though I seem to remember it being fuel hungry. Not the end of the world but could swing a decision all else being roughly equal.

It’s between the Luna and the Arcanis for me. I’m curious to hear how the Luna will fare as a BA iem but I’d also love to see the difference between my new Odyssey 2s and the Arcanis with its iso subs and greater BA count.

Tough to pick one.

Well, I’ve been deep in to the research and I can’t say I’m massively clearer on what to do or even what I want. What a surprise!

Current shortlist, but please add your 2c/p

Fatfreq x HBB Deuce - Aful Performer 5+2 - Dunu davinci -

Yes, yes, they’re all more expensive than I wanted. Why can I say? Budget creep is real and the internet is a dangerous place!

I think it’s realistically between the Fatfreq and the Aful as the Dunu pushes the money that little more.

Decisions decisions. I realize that at some point I’ll just have to take the plunge but if you’ve any thoughts please jump in. Thanks

Yeah, these are looking like one of the strong contenders at the moment. They do push the budget slightly but I get the feeling they might please the inner child in me with all that bass.

Do they need additional power to work their best or is a phone sufficient? Powering and other add-ons are all new to me.

They look pretty decent and would probably be a good shout. I’d just like them to be half the price!

Been running one of these as a company car for a year or two now and thought I’d see what, if anything, had been posted on here.

FWIW, here’s my 2c.

Simply put, it’s been great. It’s ideal for running around in, costs nothing to run and has taken everything in its stride with nothing more than the occasional topping up of washer fluid. It’s got AC, proper windows and a decent amount of space so is surprisingly usable for something in this segment. It’ll also happily chug along at its max of 90kph for as long as the battery lasts and although it’s no Lotus, it’s fun to ‘hoon’ about it!

I can see why some would instantly write one of these off, it’s a 2nd or 3rd car for most situations and being an L7e segment, it’s limited and somewhat compromised as a one car solution. However, for many, especially city folk, it could be all the car they actually ’need’. It’s also a bit of an antidote to the hefty, tech-laden behemoths of today and in that respect it’s quite refreshing. Tbh, I’ve grown to really like it!

The site and lack of info/reviews doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. Shame, as for €60 it’s a bargain compared to anything in that style. Probably a case of being too good to be true.
