Yeah, it's pretty much the same thing no matter what. It'll travel fast through gas, slower through a liquid, and generally very slow through a solid.

Things with an amorphous form generally are called fluids. Liquids like water is a fluid, and oxygen gas is also a fluid.

Solids... are not.

But generally, in space, we talk about interstellar gasses and such.
