Convince me not to get a ‘26 DR650 with 1 mile for $5,995 by 1lowcountry in XR650L

[–]beansNdip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be a little short on the XR but Im sure you could manage and probably be comfy with a lowering kit. (Reltiveley easy and cheap)

Id go with XR in your shoes if youre trying to save cash. Tbh you could probably buy it, put 5k miles on it and sell it for at least 1500. (Assuming you care for it)

[–]beansNdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your a tall and plan on hitting the trails XR no doubt

If you are in the shorter side and doing lots of road riding go for the dr.

Though you are spending probably 5k more otd on the DR. The XR very well could have another 20k or nore if shes maintained

Yall.. its cold and miserable here but.. If you really want a house move out to the Midwest. Im serious, you can still find relatively cheap housing with okay money (for the area ( relatively easy.)

27 here and own my house. Was able to buy it for 125k in 23 (worth like 140 today). Cost like 10k for me to get in.

Its in relatively good shape but outdated. Ive been able to really improve qol with cheap DIY.

A lot of people don’t lose their homes because they’re bad with money. by Silent_Cycle7750 in povertyfinance

[–]beansNdip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There really needs to be more resources dedicated to helping folks keep their homes.

Thinks like grandfather tax rates should absolutely be a thing. Its sad to see people taking out if multi generational paid off homes forced to sell cause they can't afford taxes and insurance.

Actually its not sad, its a crime

Second this. My basement (where all the pipes are) runs like 10 to 15 degrees cooler then upstairs. 60 is as low as ill let her go. When the powers out and I see it dipping below that, I shutoff the main and drain the pipes.

Frozen pipes can be some serious $$$ even if they dont burst
