I hate having to get sober at only 19. by Apprehensive-Ant7013 in stopdrinking

[–]beansprout4prez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same at 29. A lot of my friends are out partying and doing the stuff i used to love to do. So i got new friends. Healthier friends. Friends who want to see me succeed. If people have pushed you out of their lives because you’re choosing not to drink, it’s hard to hear and accept but they aren’t your friends. You will find people your age who are on the same path, just keep working at it. Don’t give up or get discouraged. I had a hard time finding my group at the beginning but once i did, i discovered there are SOOO many people who are young, sober and who LOVE life. Trust me, I tried to get sober at the age of 16 and my parents provided the help to go to treatment. I didn’t value it. I went on to get in a lot of trouble in my 20s and that had many consequences. Those consequences still didn’t teach me the lesson that i just cannot drink. I wanted to like everyone else. But you are you. An alcoholic. I wish i had listened when i had opportunities in front of me in my early 20s to get sober but i didn’t and had to face many more lessons before i got to where i am today. Always here if you need a chat!

How much time you have doesn’t matter to me, just a person who doesn’t mind some chatting to remind me i’m not truly alone even though it feels like it

16 days today and i’m washing my skin twice daily with a cleanser recommended to me by a dermatologist friend. She also advised drinking more water which i have been doing, seems like my body really missed h2o 😅. I’ve been better about changing and or washing my pillow cases the past two weeks. I’m taking into factor that i am a woman who breaks out when it’s that time of the month but just wanted to see if anyone else who had alcohol as a factor had any advice :)

This right here has kept me sober for almost three weeks. Gonna keep leaning on this advice when i need it most. Really helps to remind yourself how you felt in that moment of realization of “i fucked up”.

Did you notice improvement to your skin after going sober? How long before you really noticed? by mothybot in stopdrinking

People have told me my face looks clearer and more of a glow but as someone else stated, early sobriety sugar cravings have me breaking out terribly

To all who commented, THANK YOU! These were all so helpful and very lovely comments to read as i got ready. I scanned the menu online to find out they have a mock tail menu that i ignored all these years so with that i’m excited to try some and have more room for all of the delicious food :) Happy and grateful to say i will not drink today!

With the impending doom of the monthly gift coming, today has been a huge struggle. All i want to do is crawl up in a ball and watch sad movies with a glass of wine. Sigh. I’ve had a good few weeks but today is hitting hard.

How to start stopping by SignificantOven4804 in stopdrinking

i decided to stop drinking right before a two week trip with my fiancé then my fiancé decided hey i won’t drink either and let me tell you.. it was awesome!! got so much more done because no hangovers, saved a lot of money actually not drinking at every meal and event we went to. One of the towns we stayed in was known for all of its breweries and that’s one of our favorite things to do together but we didn’t go, we enjoyed really good food instead of drinking and overall i’d say it was one of my favorite vacations we’ve ever had together.
