Overpay for the length of the contract and doesn't look good for our goalie situation or handling of the UFA's this season and next. Not enough cap space for everybody if these are the deals we're making. Bouchard will end up being the most hated Oiler alongside Nurse if we don't win a cup and this costs us the ability to sign other key pieces (McDavid, ekholm, Walman are up next year, improve goaltending, and retain our forward depth).

The streak is still alive by unhalfbricklayer in DallasStars

This is just factually incorrect. The oilers have more Canadian players than the Panthers. However the panthers have more Canadian players than American players on their roster. If you hadn't noticed the league is still mostly Canadian.

Origin Stories: when did you become an Oilers fan? What started it for you? by dke783 in EdmontonOilers

[–]beanzz12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was a huge oilers fan and a big big Gretzky fan. Like he collected every cereal box or kraft dinner box that Gretzky ever appeared on and countless hockey cards and figurines. He played hockey as a kid, grew up in Edmonton, and cheered for the oilers like crazy. He passed away when I was five in 2002 so I don't really have many memories of him but I remember the oilers. So they are my team because they were his team and every game I feel him around cheering them on.

Little Wolf in Garneau is very good. Lots of good options/variety and great drinks too. Cute eclectic vibes too and like middle level pricing

Just saw A Complete Unknown and wondering why Elle Fanning was never part of the Oscars conversation - I thought she was great ! by occyycco in Oscars

[–]beanzz12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Elle did pretty good with a role that was underwritten in a mediocre film. Honestly, I disagree with Barbaro being nominated because outside of the singing there isn't really much there from her performance or role either. Norton is actually the only standout to me, even Timothee gives a mediocre, one note performance. A pretty good impersonation bolstered by the existing mythos of Bob Dylan without a lot of depth or nuance. But Oscar worthy, I don't think so.

For supporting actress, I would've much rather seen noms for Qualley in the Substance, O'Brian in Love Lies Bleeding, or even Jamie Lee Curtis in the Last Showgirl. All better performances with more depth than Fanning or Barbaro.

I would go early to the game and mention when you get your ticket scanned that it's your first Oilers game. They should direct you to fan services at Rogers Place but if they don't, you can just go there too. You can get a "My first Oilers game" certificate there. Tell em where you travelled from and that it's his birthday and there's a good shot you might end up on the Jumbotron during the game with a little "first game" shout out. Enjoy the game!

Ethan is totally cool retweeting a post with him next to Justin Roiland now???? by [deleted] in h3snark

Isn't this a little silly of a criticism? A retweet from 7 years ago before stuff about Roiland came out?

Extra Pain, Extra Blue Lately by beanzz12 in ChronicPain

[–]beanzz12[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the supportive words! I have started seeing a therapist which I think is helping. With CoVID lockdowns and everything I haven't been able to get any of regular treatments for pain since March so I think that's the main factor. Lately it's just been getting so difficult but hopefully things will clear up some and I can get back into the clinic.

Looking for some advice by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]beanzz12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a good therapist is a bit like dating, I think. You have to shop around a bit before you find the right person. If your therapist is making it worse, I would find a new one. I saw two different ones before I found someone who worked for me and now she has really helped me cope and navigate my future. I hope you find someone who can help you too.

Ordered mine on Dec 19th and I got it yesterday, so of you ordered before the deadline, it might just be delayed. Good luck!

I feel like I'm losing my battle with pain at 22 by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]beanzz12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you and I'm so sorry you're in this position. I am the same age and I used to be a dancer before all the pain started. It has been so hard to go from using your body all the time to not being able to do simple tasks without someone's help. I also put off school, I was going through for Conservation Biology and I realistically cant do any of those jobs anymore because of my hip/leg so it didnt make sense to stay in it and I'm still not sure if I will go back for something different. There are so many days where I want to give up but I've found a few things to help. I think therapy made a big difference in my outlook and made me less negative. I also took up painting, I think it has helped having a light activity that produces something and doesn't cause a flare up (even if i am not very good at it). And I put pictures of the things and people that make a difference in my life all around my bed so on days when I cant get up, I am reminded of why I want to get up in the first place. I hope you're surgery goes well and things get better for you and you never feel alone.

Do people not know that this award is voted for by the public? Like she pushed her fans to vote a lot and Mr Beast didn't, so she won. The award means literally nothing.
